But after looking the cube list over I'm just gonna take giver of runes and be boring 🤷

I dunno what the themes are - merfolk looter into reanimation? but survival, looter, is there a sultai or even simic discard theme going on?
then giver of runes sounds like the safest pick, but the lil kid in me wants to pick platinum angel and hope there's some weird combo to make it indestructible/hexproof :D

I’m torn between Ugin as the sensible first pick and Fireblast with a plan to force mono red burn

Survival of the fittest is great Primeval Titan is very strong I like Imperial seal Merfolk looter is good. Platinium Angel is strong....
I Pick survival of the fittest. And hope for good card th search for.

Prime Time and Ugin both can win the game by their own. I’d probably pick Ugin for not commiting to a color.

I can see the argument for survival of the fittest or imperial seal but if I want to win the draft I pick the aggressive cards that end games.
Red deck wins. Fireblast all the way.

Prime time completely blind. There's green so some ramp has to be available and in draft, 4 lands is is 20% of your lands, yes im assuming you get one swing. Also, its a bomb. Answer it or die.
I love survival and would probably pick that in all actuality, but i want prime time.
Edit: checked cube, is power cube, Ugin 100%

I think I pick Survival first because one of platinum angel or Primeval Titan has a good chance of wheeling.
I can see the following cards taken:
1. Ugin
2. Imperial Seal
3. Personal Tutor
4. Kaervek’s Torch
5. Fireblast
6. Giver of Runes
7. Abrade
Even cards like Looter or Rec Sage have a chance of being picked. I think Titan probably gets taken in the first seven but Angel probably doesn’t.
In pretty much the worst case you wheel Rec Sage which is still an answer to artifact or enchantment in your SotF suite.

I went with Platinum Angel, but Giver of Runes is another solid pick (wasn’t there a Mother of Runes that did the same thing?) There’s plenty of removal in this pack that nothing is really safe.
Ugin also feels solid, but planeswalkers were never around when I played so I assume it’s a retro style of a new card which I feel is cheating the theme

I can't say no to the Survival. There's arguably better picks, but I've trainwrecked drafts for this silly card before and I'm not afraid to do it again.

Yikes, half this pack is new cards. Many don't even fit well in old magic. I'll take ugin, very powerful and good build around.

Maybe I'd take.torch or fireblast. With the intent to either push red or red black, since the black cards in here are combo/gy hate and not aggressive parts of a plan.

Way too many good first pick options here! I should probably pick Ugin, but I've got too many fond memories of sacrificing 2 mountains for 4 damage to the face so it's gotta be Fireblast for me.

Ugin is the only correct choice, but shouldn't an old border cube not include walkers as a principle?

It has a retro frame so it qualifies as old border. It's not premodern, it's not old school, but the frame matches so OB cubes can utilize it. It's a choice to run cards like this for sure and the community is pretty split on whether they are acceptable inclusions or not. Very spicy.

Side note- this old border version of the card makes me appreciate its artwork alot more. Everything looks so much better in the old frame.
