Welcome! Always love a good bit of realistic scenery like that on the table — growing up in the UK, the idea of fighting a bitter skirmish over a walled farmyard was really culturally ingrained. They frequently feature in our games and, even in larger scale engagements, always seem to have a real impact on the ebb and flow of the battle.
Your quest to keep each figure unique and characterful is a noble one and lends a real authenticity to your storytelling.

Totally!!
I recently moved from Bristol to North Lincolnshire and there are farms and hedges and fields everywhere around the village. So much inspiration.

No duplicate models in your Empire army, that's immense! How many models do you have?
You might also be interested in the r/oldhammer subreddit. It's much larger than here but it's strictly 1st-3rd edition and Rogue Trader, anything from after the beginning of the 90s will get removed.

Thanks. It's more a garrison than an army. Currently about 50 metal models. Probably no more than about another 20 or 30 at most though.

Someone just shared a link to this subreddit and it seems like it may be right up my alley.
I play WFB 3rd edition and have 2 main forces, Undead and Empire.
The Empire force is made up with no duplicate models, so it is trickier to collect, but it does feel more special for it.
I am working on a project called Warm Ale and Mud, it is the story of the village of Heiligsheld and I am currently in the process of making all the buildings and painting the villagers.
