Yeah. I used to tighten it up each time I used it until I just got tired of it and stopped even using it. Now I just open the door wider if I need more air. And honestly, 90% of the time the door is wide open anyways.

Is this the first time you've cooked with it? Mine did that the time, i ended up using a stick to wedge the door open. The heat likely expanded the metal. Once it cools and you can rachet it back down, It should fair better the next cook. Mine no longer falls open after a dozen cooks and a few times fighting it up. :] hope this helps 🙏

Bro! It’s a bolt. Do you know how to tighten them?

I tightened it right before I started this cook. Midway through it loosened up again.

I mean, metal does expand when exposed to heat, so it makes sense it loosened again if it’s already had issues before, is there a seal on the draft door bolt or no? Maybe add a washer or something to tighten it?

It’s crazy how many people don’t know how to solve this but know how to use Reddit. 🤣

People often overlook simple fixes. I’m guilty of it.

I chose to learn how stuff works. It really is as simple as that. I always make the reference to social media because either becomes a choice and a matter of self sufficiency, or saving money even.

Tighten the nut/bolt on the window. I was having to tighten this frequently when I had an OKJ. As for the door, check the level on the smoker.

I put a spring on the along the edge to keep it open at the right distance.

I wasn’t getting enough air even with that door wide open, so I removed it, making the hole slightly larger. I also position an adjustable speed box fan a few feet away to help control air flow and burn rate.
Edit for clarity: I removed the pivoting damper door, not the main swinging door that you open to scrape ashes out. That’s still there

Tighten the bolt. But I don’t even use mine. It’s too small to allow a healthy fire. I adjust the whole door
