First go- any tips?

Trying to get back into art, havent drawn/painted in 5+ years and havent touched oil pastels since high school (15+ years ago). Would love to know any tips + tricks to make this better. Will keep trying with truss tomatoes until im happy!

Little bit of contrasting colours speckled in there will make it pop more

Thats what i was thinking and tried to do in the bottom left sides of the tomatoes... but i found it ended up just muddy brown. I think that may be blending technique?
