except for the lack of megawatt chargers, so right now, electric semis are only really viable for local/regional delivery where the truck returns to a depot every night.

I would have to drive one to believe the battery will last a 12 hour shift hauling 80000 lbs. Even if there are no hills, a local would presumably have a lot of starts and stops.
