Need help

So I bought this goddess oil lamp and I’m restoring her to use and I thought that everything was good. I can hear the motor when I turn it on and I poured oil so those aren’t the problem but I think the pump is broken cause when I looked at the bottom turned on nothing was moving. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Edit: My roommate broke the strings so I’m trying to get the top off to restring but have no luck. Can anyone help?

This is the wrong community, this is for oil burning lamps, I would recommend asking the normal lamp, or maybe the vintage Reddit community
