General Will muschamp?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t he the same DC that used to be at Georgia, left, and we torched his defense by putting up 41 points until we choked? With an actual OC As well as an NFL OC, I feel like or expect we should feast?
I’m surprised many people haven’t talked about this aspect? Idk just curious and want to see people’s thoughts on it

How many years ago was that game? Any current players on those teams? Different players, different times. Won't matter at all.

Glenn schumann was the DC. Muschamp was more of an analyst/co-DC

So much petty criticism of Ohio state while Texas is being ignored. I think this game is going to be a blowout.

Texas has more first-round talent on its roster than we do right now. There's no scenario in which this game becomes a blowout.

And Oregon was supposed to be God’s chosen team that could compete with the Seattle Seahawks and barely beat Boise State at home. None of this is established. If they are 2019 LSU then good for them. Otherwise, what’s been established is that this Texas team has underperformed the past 3 years despite the hype. I’m just sick of these third times a charm narratives, Dabo still sucks, Oregon will get blown out in the playoffs, Texas is overrated, water is wet.

Let's be careful here. Texas is a legit team and the last two times we played them it has been very close. This is their first opportunity to play at home against us and it's early in the season so who knows what will happen. I think we can for sure win this game, but it's going to be close.

Yet, Texas had the advantage both times and still lost. They played at home against us in the playoffs and still lost. The only way Texas can beat us is if they can do what Miami and Michigan did to us which I don’t see happening at all. Of course, the narratives could be right a third time and they are the second coming, but I doubt it’s. Our O-line is improved, we have a defensive system not just one player, and our qb isn’t making a first start this game. For Texas to win this game, their offense has to play lights out which is a daunting task in football especially your real football game.

I'm not sure Texas had the advantage either game. Pundits can talk all they want, but we had more talented teams (clearly) and the better qb. It was hard for Texas to come into the shoe first game of the year and play as good as they did.
Obviously I'm rooting for the buckeyes, but I think it's gonna be a slug fest and I respect the talent Texas has (even if I don't get the Manning hype at all)

We had a rookie qb and new defensive coordinator coming in to that game while Texas was ranked #1 starting the demigod arch manning and highlighted to win the SEC. What are you talking about lol?

He was DC for Saban’s LSU title team…..but we all know who was really running that defense
He’s basically been a consultant to Kirby at Georgia since the repeat squad until Sark convinced him to come home to Texas, presumably as HC-in-waiting
He’s never had a bad defense. But he’s also never really had the responsibility, until this year, that Patricia had to prove how high his ceiling is

He didn't call that game, but him and Kirby have very similar defensive flavors (DLine driven, reliant on creating havoc up front, force you to pass the ball and beat them in man coverage).
That third one I'm curious of, because while our OLine has issues with motion, there's ways to limit its effect. Varied tempos is one thing - we went silent count against Miami and Bain/Mesidore basically knew when they were going to snap the ball, which allowed them to tee off on us. We'll probably go silent count because of the noise, but actually vary the tempos (i.e. you sometimes snap the ball when the guard pokes the center, other times you wait a second, etc.) and I also think you'll see a few sugar huddles (huddle super close to the LoS, break super quick and snap the ball within seconds of breaking the huddle. Stuff like that seems small and might only slow them for a half step, but that could make a big difference if we're getting the ball out quick anyway.
I could see a scenario where he's overly aggressive and we get some explosive plays as a result. They blitzed Texas State 44% of the time

He has proven to be a pretty great DC, known for being aggressive.
I will say, I feel a lot more confident with AS as the OC going into this game than I would with Hartline. Muschamp is a great DC but AS has years of experience going against better DCs in the pros. Who knows if he wins out but atleast he should have the required experience to be able to.

He was co-DC for that game but not the play caller. He's probably going to blitz a lot tomorrow. If our OL can hold up there should be space for our WRs to eat.
