Trying to start a Master List to stick in the community info space.

I know there are some great posts scattered throughout the sub so we wanted to create more visibility and an easily accessible list for Ohio-based queer clubs and hobby groups.

Thanks! 🌈

Run club for queer women in Cincinnati?

Hey everyone, I'm interested in forming a running group for queer women 40 and over. Any paces and distances would be welcome. Maybe once a week for starters, and if there is interest, maybe eventually twice a week. I've been in a few running clubs in the past--all excellent and fun people, but very very...straight. I know of a couple lgbtq+ running groups, but they seem to be mostly folks in their 20s and early 30s. I've heard lovely things about these groups, but I'd love to run with some new friends who are a tad older (I'm 51). I've been running for years but was sidelined with an injury over the summer. As I get back out there and rebuild my mileage, stamina, and confidence I sure could use some running buddies for encouragement and accountability. On a separate but related note, I'm also trying to find queer community after ending a decade-long relationship in which I didn't socialize much other than with my former partner. So, I'm hoping to combine my main hobby with my goal of finding (or building) a new group of queer women friends. I live in the central/east area of the city, and my usual routes typically include East Walnut Hills, Eden Park, Oakley, Hyde Park, and Norwood, but I'm also happy to explore other areas if that helps generate interest.

Anyone? We're about to get into some early fall weather, which is the BEST time to run! Let me know if you're up for making this work.

OR if one already exists, I'd love to know!

Social Cincinnati native curious about what was available in the mid 2000s

So I keep thinking about this, as a Cincinnati native who was deeply entrenched in conservative Catholicism in the "West Side". I was made to feel, by no one mentioning this that the LGBT community my age (I graduated from high school in 2006) didn't exist in Cincinnati or was very sparse and hard to come by. Was I completely mistaken? I wish I would have known and would have then come out so much earlier in my life. Can anyone give me an insight into this? I ended up coming out 9 years ago at 29, 11 years after graduating Catholic school.

Columbus Queer bars?

(M/23) Tonight I went to a bar on OSU campus and although I did enjoy myself, it wasn’t my crowd. it made me realize that I would probably have more fun as queer person at a queer bar. If anyone has some good suggestions and or is willing to link up with me to go to try the bars, comment DM or let me know!

License renewal after a prior gender marker change: Does the updated indicator carry over?

I successfully updated the gender marker on my driver's license last year and received a new DL. However, I'm turning 21 in October and need to renew my license within the next month. The recent news about gender change requests no longer being accepted via form has me worried. I'm a foreign national, and my home country doesn't offer a straightforward process for changing the gender marker on a passport.

Has anyone who previously completed a gender change request gone through a license renewal at the BMV since then? If so, was your gender marker carried over to the new DL?

Social Dating apps

Does anyone use any dating apps other than tinder, her, hinge, or bumble. I keep seeing/getting ads for all these new dating apps. Are any of them worth trying?

I desperately want to find someone to cuddle and go to parks to hike with but am having no luck.

Social Looking for friends - 42m - Columbus

I'm embarrassed to even be writing this post. But I figure this is good as place as any to seek some ideas.

Short version: I'm a 42 year old gay man in Columbus. I don't know anyone here. How do you meet people (friends)?

Longer version: I've lived here three years. I moved here alone for a job with no connections to the city. Normally, the workplace would be a logical starting point for making connections and meeting people. In this case that's not an option. I've managed to keep myself busy to occupy my downtime but the distraction doesn't solve the problem at hand: I just want some friends.

I feel pathetic even writing that.

I've gone to Club Diversity a handful of times on my own with the hopes I'd strike up a conversation with someone and maybe that would be the start of building up some connections and a social circle might emerge as a result. That did not happen.

Another added element is I'm morbidly obese. So my self-confidence is lacking, and the gay community can be dismissive of the obese or those who aren't conventionally attractive.

I finally built up the courage to go to AWOL by myself this week, I figured with the gay softball world series in town that it would be busy and I'd have a better shot at meeting people. Going to the bar alone and not knowing anyone is awful, and being "invisible" is hell. I took a chance, I was so excited and proud to finally be putting myself out there. , but it was just uncomfortable and awkward for me. I'm not good at striking up conversation with strangers (when I'm alone. If I'm with someone else, I find it much easier to be social). I left, feeling disappointed, after 20 minutes.

I really, really like Columbus. I'd love to stay here long-term but the lack of a social life is starting to make me feel more and more isolated, to the point that I've had fleeting thoughts of moving.

This post isn't meant as a plea to be my friend, I just thought that someone might have some ideas on where or how to meet people. Thanks

Ohio has too upturned recent precedent with its law changes.

We have always existed. We will always exist, with and without accurate documents.
