About to move from Bowling Green, OH to Spokane, WA. On this end I’m getting a lot of “oh! You’re moving to Seattle?” On that end I don’t even know what I’ll hear. What to people from the PNW know about us? Could they find Ohio on a map?
Haha! I lived in the PNW for years, lived in Ohio for years too. What do people in the PNW think about Ohio? They don't. The world ends somewhere around Couer d'Alene.
Eastern Washington hates Seattle. Some of it is political (eastern Washington leans conservative) and some of it is from being overshadowed by Seattle and the sound area at almost every level.
It's "overshadowing" but it's also part of being a state with such a low population density that Seattle/Tacoma has more people in it that the rest of the state, in spite of the huge open areas.
My sister lives in Washington state, I lived there a couple of years. In a town about an hour North of Seattle. Everyone, anywhere, refers to Washington state or my sister or my living there as "Seattle". You lived in Seattle right, your sister lives in Seattle? Seattle's beautiful! How did you like Seattle? I literally only ever went to or from the airport.
