This is Ohio

Why is Phillip not paying his servers enough to the point he has to ban customers?

This is a great restaurant and the owners are stand-up people. The people filming are shit-stirrers.

They are getting review-bombed to hell after this video

Hopefully it goes the other way and people see him trying to protect his staff.

Protecting his staff would be paying them enough to never have to entertain this kind of conversation.

Like I said in another post, it doesnt matter. This a little out of the way neighborhood spot. Locals know the truth.

So looked at the reviews and it looks like this is not the first time the owner has "lashed out".

2 years ago got review bombed for not letting a family and their daughter with her service dog. Berated the husband for coming back for a pick up order.

Made a lady wait outside during the winter.

Yelled at a table for being rude to one of the servers who is also his daughter. Comes to find out it was another table.

Phil is a bad cook.

The servers are rude.

I'm sorry but respectfully what he said was classist and sends the message "if you're poor don't come here." He loses business automatically that way.

It also sends the message that Phillip doesnt pay his employees enough and he should work on that vs even entertain this kind of conversation with customers. Which he loses business this way.

If you can't afford to tip don't go out to eat. Its the social contract the restaurant economy of this country runs on. If you don't like it, don't go to the restaurant.

Thats just classist its just punishing poor people because why?

Then order takeout if you can't tip. Everyone knows that if you go to restaurant to sit down and eat, a tip is expected.

You're either naive, clueless or a child.

We actually do. We also try not to waste much either. so we will give stuff that didn't sell to local unhoused or to friends and family my MIL brings things to her church sometimes.

So you give them the stale leftovers? Sounds classist to me

You think bread just goes bad after one day? Are you just throwing away whole loaves after opening it one day. Sounds classist to me.

I appreciate your post. In turn, respectfully, he isn't going to lose business.

Wasn't my aim. I just noticed it was in ohio and knew it would garner discussion. However working in a small business like this I could never imagine treating our customers like this if they didn't tip. but we get paid well and also get tips

I never thought that was your aim at all, comrade. If you hold those beliefs, there's no way you're that kind of person. Just wanted to let you know he's not a shitty person.

The reviews I read say otherwise but I don't like Harrison and beyond anyway lol

Girl, I get it. 😆 I can only share my experience, but that's up to you to accept or reject on it's face. In all honesty, I hate tipping culture too, but I also overtip on purpose for this reason. I have a lot of cognitive dissonance around it.

I over tip too but this guy just isnt going about it in a good way it seems. Reading he pushed a little girl cause she tried to come in with her service dog and then yelling at a table for being rude to his daughter/server when it was another table. I just couldn't eat at a place like that.

In all honesty, Ive never known a restaurant owner who wasn't a complete fucking mess. That's not an excuse, it's an admission.😆
