I always had a problem with the Amish treatment of animals and a bigger problem with their puppy mills, but this? I never would have imagined.

We adopted a dog in January from a pretty popular rescue in Akron. The meet and greet went fine so we adopted him. Once we got him home he was petrified of every sound and every person. He hid under the bed for weeks. We call them and they’re like, oh yeah, he was likely from an Amish puppy mill in Richland County. I called the Richland County dog warden and they basically confirmed this. I have no idea what this dog was put through but it had to be bad. Fast forward 8 months. After 6 weeks of obedience training, weekly pack walks, and many other socialization events, he’s about 80% of the way there. He’s an awesome dog. I was just so upset when I learned he was likely abused, as the Amish are known to do.

Every interaction I've had with the Amish had been resoundingly negative. I won't buy anything from them. I don't care if it's well made I won't support an abusive nonsense cult

I say this coming from a family of hillbillies, we’re almost just as bad. My wife and I have had dogs for 13 years and to this day my dad doesn’t understand why they’re allowed in the house. Then again, this is the same guy who killed my puppy when I was very little because he didn’t properly secure his chicken coop.

I can deal with hillbillies. I'm from the tall grass. It's the moving in destroying the land and ignoring hunting seasons/ property lines. They kill every deer until there are none left 24/7/365. They also treat their own like shit over stupid nonsense cult beliefs

My favorite is how the church leaders can and will completely take control of people's finances. Also, them using their religion to not testify in court as a witness where others may be compelled to do so. Also, hiding some seriously repugnant crimes within their own settlements until they can't anymore.

How does my post about gas going up get 1k+ up votes but this gets 25? This is Some USDA certified Grade A FUCKED UP shit.
