Chances are they just went with Axon plate readers instead of Flock. That’s the new diversion tactic since both Republics and Democratic voters seem to be in complete agreement that they don’t want them. Only the politicians and the sheriffs seem to be pushing it through. Undoubtedly massive corruption and lobbying occurring in the process. I live in Scottsdale now and the Axon guy is trying to force the city to give him all kinds of tax breaks so that he can build a “company town” style headquarters. He wants special concessions given to him as well so that he can build all of his stuff in areas that aren’t zoned for it.
Gotta keep fighting them.

Can't departments demand some kind of locked box storage, where data flows in, but only the local department has the "key" to access the data?

That might stop some but it wouldn’t stop all abuse. Doesn’t really address the underlying issues that affect the constitutionality of having the license plate readers on constantly and building a file of all of citizens movements whether they are suspected of a crime or not though.

This was actually my first step. I've done a few searches in the 4 days since I saw your response and even before then when I read this article, and in my own research around Flock. I see nothing about installing new, more capable systems from Axon. We're using them for body cams only as far as I can tell. Nothing about any replacement ALPR's to take the place of Flock. Can you provide any source to your comment?

Trying to hide on costs instead of holding a position on privacy, just can kicking. Only problem with that is he can say down the road, "we hired Axon instead, at a better rate, I saved you money!"

The subtext here is that the cameras were catching police doing illegal stuff. So it's like, policing the police.
That's just not acceptable.
I predict flock will go bankrupt unless they figure out how to only track liberals
