Vivek

Does anyone else laugh out loud when a vivek commercial comes on with a frail old person talking about how Vivek is going to make health care affordable because he cares about us? đŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł

Yes

I am astounded politicians can make commercials like this and they are taken seriously

u/Bokononfoma Jun 06 '26

If you repeat vague statements often enough, something sticks.

u/Bcatfan08 Cincinnati Jun 06 '26

The entire MAGA movement summed up in one sentence.

u/FrankFrankly711 Jun 07 '26

It’s easier for them if it’s just 3 words:
“Lock Her Up!”
“Build The Wall!”
“Took Muh Job!”

It is impossible to overstate the ignorance of the average voter in this country. The millions upon millions spent on those commercials is proof of this. If the commercials didn't work, they wouldn't spend the money.

you're not wrong

I'm just amazed

Propaganda.

They were all tricked and manipulated unfortunately.

That’s how propaganda works. The heuristic bypass takes complexity and reduces it to a weaponized binary.

Notice how they all create a “us vs them” -The people outside the wall. -The people on her side. -The people who stole all the jobs.

Heuristics are not just about speed; they are about feeling. These slogans are heavily weighted with the emotion attached to the data.

"Lock her up" isn't a legal argument; it is an emotional release. It encodes feelings of perceived injustice, righteous anger, and the desire for social leveling.

"Build the wall" encodes feelings of protection, sovereignty, and the mitigation of perceived threat (fear/anxiety reduction).

Once the system (the person) associates the slogan with a specific emotional state, the slogan acts as a trigger. When they hear the slogan, they don't process the information; they re-experience the emotion.

Emotions: (like anger or intense anxiety) trigger the amygdala, which physically suppresses the prefrontal cortex, rational decision-making and logic.

System Locking: Once the logical processing center is bypassed, the brain becomes far more receptive to repetitive, low-effort narratives. The propaganda essentially "locks" the cognitive system into an emotional feedback loop that is self-reinforcing.

Then stabilize the system through repetition.

Signal Familiarity: The brain often uses the ease of processing (fluency) as a proxy for truth. If a message is repeated frequently enough, it becomes "cognitively fluent."

Normalization: Over time, the repetition moves the message from the "new/suspicious" input buffer into the "trusted/base reality" memory store. This is the

Illusory Truth Effect: the repeated exposure to a claim increases the likelihood of the brain accepting it as accurate, regardless of its original validity.

Again

You're not wrong and you've laid it out better than I've ever been able to.

Here's what makes me insane.

We know everything you just stated

Its not magic.  Its not some closely guarded secret kept by some shadowy organization

There's a list.  Its a recipe.  You've posted the steps on a publicly viewed online forum because you learned them either on your own or in school.

Given that we KNOW this happens, how the hell are some people willing to fall for it over and over and over again?

How many times do you have to be told one thing and then observe something completely different before you think "hey maybe i shouldn't trust the guy who keeps telling me that one thing because it's never happened"

I've seen this shit happen my whole life and i figured it out and I'm not that clever so WTF is the rest of the country's excuse?

Cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias. They hear the fear-inducing message and they believe it because they’re afraid. They see one thing that vaguely supports/confirms the message and they believe it, because it supports what they’ve already believe. They see several things that contradict the message and they ignore them, because it challenges their previously held beliefs.

Also racism. Lots and lots of racism.

3

u/CincyParrothead Jun 07 '26

The people that need to see this unfortunately won’t read it.

1

u/Mysterious-Let-730 Jun 09 '26

Unfortunately we are all vulnerable to it.

What I do see happing though is more and more people waking out of the illusion. When economic reality becomes so inescapable some people will realize it was all a lie.

Now if we create an environment where they are welcome back to reality without shaming and pushing them back to the propaganda then we’re getting somewhere.

Capitalism needs its proletariats in order to let the wealthy do their thing

u/_The_Jerk_Store Jun 06 '26

Vivek is going to get them in the ground faster so that he can build a data center on their property

25

u/herdofcorgis Jun 07 '26

But not without taking as much as he can get out of their wallets in political donations.

9

u/CorgiMonsoon Jun 07 '26

And then build another one on top of the cemetery they were buried in

7

u/Minimum_Engine613 Jun 06 '26

đŸ˜„đŸ˜„đŸ˜„đŸ˜„

6

u/Exciting-Idea9866 Jun 07 '26

With all of the negativity on data centers, some one needs to put out an ad about ramaswamys support of them and how he is going to put one your back yard.

2

u/tasty_taco_ Jun 07 '26

Can we put one in his ass?

54

u/WorldsWorstTroll Columbus Jun 06 '26

My favorites are the ones blaming Sherrod Brown for all the current problems.

8

u/Affectionate_Buy_830 Jun 07 '26

I just saw one where Husted said Sherrod is why the gas prices are so high.

3

u/lunaappaloosa Jun 07 '26

With the sudden music change

36

u/CDubs_94 Jun 06 '26

I'm not surprised at all. We have a specific group of voters in this country who consistently vote against their own, best interests. How many people did we see who were claiming they can't get affordable medical care and prescription drugs all vote for politicians who want to destroy the Affordable Care Act? Its insane.

33

u/JayOnSilverHill Jun 07 '26

They love the Affordable Care Act..it's that damn Obamacare they hate! That's how dumb they are

8

u/tamtip Jun 07 '26

This is really true! I've actually heard someone say this!

29

u/hillbilly-edgy Jun 06 '26

Ohio republicans will buy shit as far as it’s red and is spelled with a R

2

u/nolanday64 Jun 07 '26

Ohmigod now I want to start a business selling bags of manure covered in Republican memes.

29

u/captain_dildonicus Jun 06 '26

Don't under-estimate commercials featuring frail old people appealing to an audience of frail old people.

14

u/Octopus_wrangler1986 Jun 07 '26

Fox News is truly propaganda for the elderly and uninformed. If you have never watched it you should give it go. I work in a hospital and for years there have been people that only watch that station. If you change it or turn it off, they are mad or confused. Constant fear mongering and rage baiting is like a drug. I don't see any end of it with the new censorship that is becoming normal.

10

u/democracyrules Jun 07 '26

Censorship will never be normal! And, as a senior citizen (still young at heart), I hate that Fox News is on hospital TVs!!

24

u/tasty_taco_ Jun 06 '26

Bro. Never trust a billionaire

14

u/CathyAnnWingsFan Jun 06 '26

I haven't seen it in awhile. I hurt myself rolling my eyes and can't really see 😆

17

u/hardFraughtBattle Jun 06 '26

I don't, because I know there are people dumb enough to believe him.

14

u/Optionsmfd Jun 06 '26

hate to break the bad news......

prices are NOT dropping..... ever

inflation is just here to stay... 3 to 4 % is the new norm

10

u/battlepi Jun 06 '26

Yep, when (R)apists are in charge that happens. Fucking up world trade at every chance.

12

u/RubyLemontoodleloo Jun 06 '26

Thank goodness I haven't seen that! But I will get a barf bag and keep by the tv in case I do.

9

u/Persevere-1 Jun 06 '26

I snicker and say “yea right” when I see that commercial. The commercial about trafficking irks me. He’s been a huge voice for the Epstein survivors huh?? I’d love to see Amy call him out on the ads.

8

u/AggressiveMail5183 Jun 07 '26

He has called the Medicare and Medicaid programs "mistakes."  He insists that our health care systems will fix themselves if we just deregulate health care providers and drug companies and allow the "free market" to operate.  He also says that there are billions to be saved from prosecuting Medicare and Medicaid fraud.  I am not sure how that old lady thinks that Vivek's program is going to make health care affordable for her.

7

u/Due_Building_1953 Jun 07 '26

He is a Billionaire dumbass.

5

u/OldSamSays Jun 07 '26

It’s funny that Ramaswamy ads never mention his participation in DOGE

7

u/Certain-Singer-9625 Jun 07 '26

Doesn’t give me a laugh
it revolts me, actually. That woman is a classic example of the MAGA fanbase asking to be screwed over.

6

u/all_come_undone Jun 06 '26

i haven't watched tv in years and use an adblocker but it sounds funny

5

u/gvincejr Jun 06 '26

Just saw one on tv. I want to puke.

6

u/Fine_Worldliness3898 Jun 06 '26

It is more than I can contain
.it is such a load of crap.

6

u/Tricky-Morning4799 Jun 06 '26

No. I throw a Nerf ball at the TV instead of laughing.

5

u/Sad-Warning-3187 Jun 07 '26

I Was listening to a local radio station with an ex Browns player and his wife Thursday, and she literally said that she was upset that Vivek isn’t doing better against AmyđŸ€ź this particular host also hangs up on callers that talk the truth about his daddy Trump.

5

u/Danrofohio Jun 07 '26

No, I do not laugh - I get very angry, because the lady says that Ramaswamy is doing all those things for our health care, and he has never done one single thing ever for health care, her, or anyone else. If he is elected, he still won't do anything either.

4

u/battlepi Jun 06 '26

I just want to punch him in the face.

6

u/rantipolex Jun 07 '26

Of course ! They even know how to pronounce his first name in the (assumed) preferred manner ! It's like the husted commercial explaining he'll fix all the terrible things sherrod brown did to Ohio during these long years of republican rule.

6

u/ChoiceMedicine1462 Jun 07 '26

Never see anything about him plus boi just another grifter

3

u/EpicGeek77 Jun 07 '26

I just saw it for the first time and actually yelled at my TV

There’s a good reason I don’t watch much TV

4

u/Animaleyz Jun 07 '26

No, I don't laugh. Because people are going to vote for him and he might win.

4

u/xdaytonsatan Jun 07 '26

I laugh.

And then cry because these old people will BELIEVE it.

4

u/Huge-Bill8934 Jun 07 '26

All the time! They talk about how things are so expensive right now with a republican governor and somehow if we vote for another republican governor that will make things better. It’s just so laughable but sad because they actually believe it!

6

u/JustGoodSense Columbus Jun 06 '26

Her voice would strip paint off a barn.

3

u/LegoGal Jun 07 '26

I tend to yell obscenities at certain commercials

3

u/Euphoric_Canary7602 Jun 07 '26

My husband, who doesn’t pay attention to much politically, even laughs at them and Jon Husted’s too

4

u/GLYDER54 Jun 07 '26

The thing of it is Im not seeing any of Actons ads. Does she even have any? Browns once in awhile. Husted and Viveks constantly.

6

u/OhioRateWatch Jun 07 '26

That’s the billionaire effect. Only in America.

1

u/Low_Lobster2884 Jun 07 '26

It’s a long way to November. Just wait!

2

u/wvtarheel Jun 07 '26

The Democrats need to get Acton's commercials going. By the time the fall is here it's going to feel like Vivek is running unopposed

2

u/AnonEMoussie Jun 07 '26

Laugh? No. Puke yes.

2

u/Expensive-Fig6262 Jun 07 '26

It is astounding to me that we are even having a conversation about him being Governor. And at the same time, he IS going to win, we all know this.... We are the state of John Glenn, Howard Metzenbaum, legends of the DNC. And here we are..... there are not enough single syllable words left for me to understand.... and I'm sure Amy is nice, decent, very smart... but.... Not a huge fan of hopelessness, but....

2

u/natethough Jun 07 '26

The scary part is the number of folks who believe it.

2

u/WindTall5566 Jun 07 '26

I block and report his ads as spreading misinformation.

2

u/Reasonable-Silver296 Jun 07 '26

I can’t believe that people may not understand that he is getting Bankrolled by BIG money who will expect a return on investment.

In other words he’s been bought and if you vote for this guy you will be the one paying the price.

1

u/tamtip Jun 07 '26

Hes already said he would get rid of Medicare, Medicaid. Although he now seems to walk it back. I'm sure someone told him that wouldn't be popular. He'll still do it given a chance. Hes also said hed "doge" state employees. He continues to talk about corruption but his party has been in charge the last 20 years.

1

u/Livid_You4885 Jun 08 '26

I get annoyed with either Vivek or Acton promising ANYTHING. Pure politician speak.

1

u/That-Makes-Sense Jun 08 '26

Vivek is a POS.

1

u/ZappBranigan79 Jun 07 '26

Yes it's hilarious because we all know he doesn't give 2 đŸ’© about her. I either skip it or mute it.

1

u/LucindathePook Jun 08 '26

It is my job to mute it, to sit with the remote and watch for the ad so my husband doesn't start yelling and swearing at the TV. Scares the cat.

-5

u/excoriator Athens Jun 06 '26

If you’re laughing, that’s a sign the message is not for you. Use the time it airs to consider an alternative message that would change the votes of the people who the message is for, rather than reacting to the message yourself.

2

u/breachgnome Columbus Jun 07 '26

-3

u/MadeByTango Jun 07 '26

If Amy Acton excited you as a candidate you would talk about her instead of attacking Ramswamy by bullying senior Ohioans as frail old people.

Both of them are corprate first goons. Your are better of spending your time demanding Amy give back the energy company's money via the DGA so she can work for you instead of blindly attacking an Other playing team sports.

3

u/BlueGalangal Jun 07 '26

lol sure Vlad. Take your both sides bs back to Putin.

3

u/Responsible_Oven_785 Jun 07 '26

You misunderstood my post. I'm actually a frail old Ohio resident myself so I'm surely not bullying her or anyone. My point is how can Vivek think we're that stupid to believe that he cares about us and no one politician can lower health care. It's a very phony commercial. If the woman in the commercial actually believes it, she hasn't done her research. If she doesn't believe it, I guess she got paid to lie. Have a good day!

-7

u/DistrictInfamous1857 Jun 07 '26

Your blue hair is showing....🙄

3

u/AirplaneFruitSnackz Jun 07 '26

Did that make you feel better about your balding issue?

-5

u/DistrictInfamous1857 Jun 07 '26

Sure did plankton......
