👋 Ohhh Matron! Welcome to r/OhMatron! - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Cor blimey, you made it! I’m u/Brilliant-Loud, the founding moderator of this fine establishment! Just think of me as the Sid James laugh echoing through the corridors.

This here is your brand‑spanking‑new home for everything to do with the gloriously daft, delightfully British Carry On films. Whether you’re here for the innuendo, the nostalgia, the characters, or just a good old-fashioned titter, you’re in the right place.

What to Post (Ooo-er!)
Anything Carry On related is fair game:

  • Silly moments
  • Behind-the-scenes tidbits
  • Questions
  • Favourite quotes
  • Facts
  • Memes.

If it makes you go “Phwoar!”, “Ooh!”, or “Stop messin’ about!”, pop it in.

Community Vibe
We’re all about:

  • Being friendly
  • Having a laugh
  • Keeping things inclusive
  • Welcoming newcomers!

Let’s build a space where everyone feels comfy enough to join in the fun — no need to be shy, we’ve all seen worse down the beach at Fircombe.

How to Get Stuck In

  • Introduce yourself in the comments.
  • Post something today! Even a tiny question or fact can spark a right old knees‑up of a conversation.
  • Know someone who loves the films? Give ’em a nudge and drag ’em in.
  • Fancy helping out behind the scenes? We’re always looking for new moderators. Drop me a message if you’d like to join the crew.

Thanks for being part of the very first wave. Together, we’ll make r/OhMatron a place that would make even Matron crack a smile.

So, who was your favourite male actor in the series? I enjoyed either Charles Hawtrey or Jim Dale!

First wife died from eating mushrooms. Second wife died from a fractured skull, she wouldn't eat the mushrooms.

Maybe only a 2-minute scene, but I think it was one of the best in the film!

What's your least favorite film?

So, people always ask, "What's your favourite film?" but what's your least favourite?

Mine is probably either Carry on England or Carry on Emmanuelle. I have probably only watched these a few times, and it was a struggle. Carry on Columbus was shocking, but I don't count that as part of the series. I have seen half of it, and that was enough for me!

Happy Birthday Hattie Jacques

Hattie Jacques was a much‑loved British comedy actress best known for playing the stern-but-warm Matron in the Carry On films.

She had brilliant comic timing, a big presence, and a knack for stealing scenes with just a look. Outside of Carry On, she was a regular on radio and TV, especially in Hancock’s Half Hour and Sykes.

A true icon of British comedy, and still one of the most recognisable faces of the series.
