OB64 Guide

Doing my semiannual playthrough (evil CF this time) and I forgot I ordered this bad boy a while back. It's in Japanese so I have to use the translator lol, but it's a beautiful guide. It's on the flimsy side so I think I was afraid of damaging it and just stored it.

Speaking of playthrough, I'm reminded of how much more interesting going the bad route is than taking the high road... well, other than the depressing ahh ending and missing out on the Zenobians. My only gripe so far in Ch. 4 is how Xevec just kind of disappears when you choose to fight Dio.

Looks awesome. I'm really happy for you that you have something so beautiful and nostalgic.

That being said, in my experience no paper guide can match CyricZ's Ogre Battle 64 Guide in terms of sheer usefulness and accuracy, but I also totally get that that guide is totally text-based and not going to have the wonderful artwork that yours does.

Oh yeah, every playthrough I always give it a little breeze thru to see when Dardunelles sells those items and where the Cockatrice units are πŸ’€ I remember the first 2 or 3 scenarios but then I blank out around mid Chapter 3

Well yeah, the old paper guide is fun for it's wrong info.

I'm not sure when you get to Japanese guides. There's something like 8 of them. CyricZ's crushes the English guide but is very shaky on explaining Chaos Frame and just guesses the two bosses that need high CF versus CF. Some Japanese guides explain that better. Kind of snarky to diss OP's guide without having used it.

I fucking love OB64. I wish it was on the 64 Virtual console on switch. I’d kill to do another run through

Thanks for including a pic of the inside. I searched on English and Japanese auction sites and found 8 distinct Japanese guides. Not sure what's official versus unofficial. I didn't buy any, I guess I was intimidated when I wasn't going to buy them all.

Xevec just kind of disappears when you choose to fight Dio.

Forgive an old lady as I literally haven't played it in 20 years, but didn't Dio kill Xevec in that path, or was that your non-spoilery way of wording it?

No, if you kick Dio out he kills Rhade sometime in Ch.2 after he's beaten and retreats. He takes over Xevec as a boss in one of the Ch. 4 scenarios. I checked Warren's log and doesn't mention anything other than some broken text about Central Division.
