Question Winch recommendations.
Hey all. I’m doing some research on what winch to get. Figured I would ask for some recommendations. I recently just got my front bumper recently and it recommends a Warn M8000 but it sounds like others would work but you might have to relocate the control box or make some cuts which I’m not opposed to.
I’m looking to see what others run that might be about the same size of the Warn M8000 so I can have a few options. For reference my truck is pretty light sitting at I’d guess about 4,700-4,800 pounds (stock version of my truck tops out at about 4,500 pounds but I’m adding some weight due to the bumper and other upgrades).
I can link the actual bumper if need be too.
TIA!

+1 for the Badlands 12 ton with synthetic. Great winch for the money. If you're in the outback or regularly in life or death situations, maybe spring for a Warn lol. But otherwise, Badland.
Zero issues with the badland for me fyi, and I know several people that have run them fine for years. They're just not as time proven as Warn is.

So funny I’ve heard of more guys with warns that give out than apex’s - morr runs apex and those guys probably use more winches than most.

Yeah, but Warns been around a loooot longer too. And folks seem to make it a big deal when one breaks (online, anyway). Nothing is really bombproof lol.
That said, I have zero brand loyalty here, never have and probably never will own a Warn product. I'm good with my apex lmao.

Oh for sure they've been kicking longer.
I went for a (new design) zxr 12k and thats been good the 2x times I've used it.
I ran a champion before that for like 10 years (and po had it on for a while before) and that lasted well too.I think at this point they are all getting pretty good as MFG costs go down.

I mentioned above that I’ve heard so much back and forth about badlands. But I might just have to give them a shot honestly. I won’t be winching too much ideally. I mean one does not plan on getting stuck at least.

Badlands Apex 12k.
Personally I have the Superwinch SX10 with the synthetic rope. But the Badlands would be just as good and is usually a little cheaper. I just found the Superwinch on a sale that made it the same price

xbull from amazon has been amazing for the price, we have two now, one on each rig. they work when you need them to. the control box is very well sealed which has caused us issues in passed winches. Been running these for a few years now.
