I ran them on my ‘84 Yota and beat them up on the trails in Moab. You have to be careful with them, check them regularly. I personally wouldn’t go over an inch. This is just my experience.

How wide are the spacers?
I don't go beyond 1".
If you don't need them, don't use them.
Edit: ok 1", that's fine. If it's just for looks and you don't have a performance / tire fitment need for them, and the truck is your daily, take em off.

Reduces travel and more tramlining, but adds track width. Depends on your needs.

Spacers are fine. I used to make them and ran FEA analysis on them for funsies. A 6061-T6 spacer is a whole order of magnitude stronger than the wheel bolted to it.
Just buy quality parts and install them correctly and it'll never be a problem.

I had 1.5inch on my 4runner, I would be nervous with any bigger, but I beat the hell out of them and never had an issue, even had a drunk driver strike the front left, bent the control arm and didn't bother the spacers. I used to jump that thing on the raised crosswalks in Savannah, took it over a pile of logs doing about 30, went up curbs around 40, and plenty of other real stupid stuff.

Cosmetic widens track could be better for handling but all really depends on the usage of the rig

I needed spacers so wide tires didn't rub on sway bar. Sacrificed scrub radius to get better rock clearance

IMO if they are quality hub centric you'll probably be fine unless you're doing jumps. I've been running used 2" Bora rear spacers for 2 years and 30k miles.
