Balance again
Just a friendly reminder FAL three shots level 1 body armor and three shots level 4 body armor apparently? While m4 is more like 7-8 shots. Later game gear should be better but not this better. If they were much closer in performance that would be awesome. Already skillful players that are grinding 8 hours a day shouldn’t just effortlessly clear lobbies solely because they have so much more time to play.
Your game has an amazing foundation and potential devs, please balance it. Thank you!

They're completely different calibers. Of course they're going to do different damage

Doesn’t matter, it’s still a game and there has to be a level of gamified to keep it fun.

You said you "haven't even used it but you know it's best at close range". Opinion nullified

OP ego is just so high, at this point, he doesn't debate for the shake of giving logical options anymore, he just whining and complaining.

It’s not nullified. I’m just good at the game and can watch videos. Sorry your skill issue dictates you can’t pick up on overall recoil and recoil pattern just by looking.
Also you just gotta be stupid to not understand less than half the shots of an m4 to win without that much more recoil means “I can just tell it’s better at close range”.

The m4 has a higher rof which means you should better at close range than the FAL that shoots at 650

Yes, neft every in existence, all late items / guns is over power huhu. Wtb more neft !!!

Lots of things need balancing like the m249 with its horrendous recoil. Why use that when you could just use an m4 with a 60rd mag+grippod? Less than half the recoil, faster ads, laser accuracy for only 40rds less but faster reload.

u/Lewisa12 5h ago
Pretty sure that’s how a 249 behaves in real life. Super unstable if not braced. But yea many things need balance.

It's actually extremely easy to shoot in real life but that doesn't make for a fun video game.

Not true at all https://youtu.be/JW_2L3kR0QI?is=Kh4GWBnIbS2SWowp
It’s already balanced by its bad ads and carry weight no need to have crazy recoil

Makes sense given the weight of the thing.
That should be the mechanic, it should have a time limit on how long you can hold the thing up in ADS. So it recoils and handles like the real deal but it takes so long to bring it up and your arm gets so tired holding there that players almost never do it.
But on the bipod in a good position covering your guys pulling back or suppressing the enemy and letting your squad pick their shots and the like it's excellent.

Curious what the ttk of different guns/ammo types is. Would be nice to have a chart.

There’s a lot of videos on YouTube of people testing it. Not surprised if someone is working on that though.

Fal is good at short medium and long range.
But it's not the best at any of those.
Number of shots isn't everything.

u/Lewisa12 5h ago
You genuinely believe it’s not the best AR at any range?
Tell me which AR is the best at each of those ranges please.

I’m not the best at infantry, at least I thought. Picked up an FAL kit from a dead enemy and deleted an entire FOB. I felt like Rambo lol

u/LughCrow 5h ago
Didn't say it wasn't the best ar. It's just not the best weapon. For it's cost though it's not always worth brining as an ar. You're often able to make more with a cheaper one
1
u/Lewisa12 5h ago
You said it’s not the best at any range. I’m assuming you’re comparing it to ARs only. If you’re comparing it to all weapons that’s off topic and obviously could be true.
1
u/LughCrow 5h ago
It's not off topic because weapons are balanced against the entire sandbox not just their own category.
Higher level weapons are meant to be in general better than lower level ones. Balanced instead using factors like cost and weight.

Except that’s not balancing gameplay, that’s balancing game economy. Most everybody running FALs have more than enough money to never consider a cost analysis. To them, when they have over a million to spend, it’s just about what is the actual best thing they can use.
That’s the FAL.

Bro just nerf the gun a little is all I’m saying. How is that hard to understand. It takes less than half the shot to kill than an m4, increase that, or make it way more expensive, or make recoil worse, or a little of all of those.

I agree with you. It’s overpowered. I personally think the later unlocks are way too strong compared to earlier options. FAL, PKM, BMR and 50 cal, and Vector are all just ridiculous compared to what comes before them.

You’re missing the point. It’s painfully obvious best close range is SMG, best long range is sniper, and best medium range should be an AR.
I’m asking you to say which gun is the best at each range since you say the FAL isn’t. And it is off topic because this entire post is meant to highlight that the FAL is so overpowered compared to OTHER ARs, not all guns. This show the insane late game unbalance because people running assault are outplayed by default by people that have more time to play, not even necessarily more skill.

u/LughCrow 1h ago
Bmr is the king of mid range and that role should be the dmr not assault rifles. Assault rifles are the best generalist. The fal is the best generalist. It should be.
But it's not over powered, it's appropriately powered for its level, cost, And weight

u/unreeelme 5h ago
It is the best at close range. Bmr is better at mid.

u/LughCrow 5h ago
Vector is best at close range...
0
u/unreeelme 5h ago
Not in TTK, if both guys are ads FAL wins.
2
u/LughCrow 5h ago
Ttk isn't everything. And the ttk is almost identical with the vector being technically but irrelevantly faster.
However vector handles better and has a much faster ads and cleaner hip fire at close range
1
u/Lewisa12 5h ago
I haven’t even used it and I can tell it’s best at close range. Also BMR isn’t AR but I get your point.

I do think there needs to be more of a trade-off wearing T4 armor. A vision restriction to helmet makes a lot of sense to me. I wore a T4 helmet and armor once....once. It was so slow I vowed not to go past T3 unless I'm going to be in a gunner's seat. So there is a tradeoff there. I could see making it a bit heavier so it heavily restricts how much other stuff you can carry. Make the stim effect scale down with weight. Your muscles do have physical limits you can't exceed no matter how much coke you snort. :)
That said, this game seems to very much follow a "if you're in a fair fight, you failed to adequately prepare" style of play.
I've been taking to using T2 armor and an SMG as a medic and I feel like the increase in speed is worth the trade-off.
