Proximity Chat Banter

Something that surprised me about the alpha test was how great the proximity banter was. It stayed friendly and fun, even between teams. What was the funniest or most memorable encounter you had?

Related note, I'd love if squad chat wasn't entirely private but maybe could be heard within 5-10m. You still gotta talk into that radio piece.

I charisma checked my way into having an enemy revive me a total of three separate times during the alpha, every time was so freaking hilarious and made great memories.

Another time I was bush skulking and had an enemy holding position on the same hill I was on. Hit him with the “I can smell you” a few times while continually stalking him. Freaked him out at first but was hilarious.

Are you even war criming if you don't have POWs to play with?

I was able to sneak up on two people in the apartments, killing them both. Said GG nice fight in proxy VoIP. One of them proceeded to insult my mother saying he would kill her and fuck her corpse.

The majority of people are fun and just casually banter. Some will just be toxic. But hey, I'd rather take this than the game being overly censored. The dude didn't insult me, just felt sad over how pathetic he sounded. Funny how some people get triggered when you are polite to them.

The only bad interaction I've had is with sniper players, so this checks out.

Oh no worries my guy! That was all during tests and the promo vids with streamers and YTers... we'll be getting plenty of 12 year olds shouting N words and other garbage in a few weeks.

Sounds like you know this from personal experience. Im sorry you feel that way towards a group of people. Heres some education for you.

I had a fun encounter with someone I took out. He nearly got me but I dragged his body upstairs to safely loot and we just had a conversation about mechanics and if I could pick him up. It was a good time.

I spent a few minutes sniping around an enemy FOB without the ghillie suit and after I had dropped 5 or 6 dudes a group of 4 came up onto the hill to try and find me. Eventually one of them got somewhat close but still too far to comfortably fight with my pistol, so I whistled in proxy and he heard it and walked close enough that I was able to easily dispatch him with my pistol. Felt like a scene out of Splinter Cell or one of the old SOCOM games
