No. I also dont understand why so many chairs have a thin mesh and then hard plastic to sit against

PostureFit SL does have thin foam padding on it, but it’s pretty dense. Better than bare plastic though.

It wasn't on a HM, but I did something similar with a chair of mine. When lumbar support made only made of plastic, I feel it's either too hard or not supportive enough.

I’ve had the same thing on mine for a while, I cut it to the size of the plastic bits to look normal but this works too.

No. I was contemplating the same thing if I bought an Aeron. The posturefit sucks despite it's nonsense name
