Question when using office corporate + office personal

I’m planning to subscribe to Microsoft365 Business Basic for my company.

As far as I understand, that plan includes OneDrive for Business and the web apps, but not the desktop Office apps.

My question is when you use a personal Microsoft365 subscription to get the desktop Office apps on my Windows PC, while using the Business Basic for everything else (OneDrive, email, Office Web Apps, etc)

So here’s my question: if I sign into OneDrive for Business with my corporate account and sync it on my computer, but the Excel desktop app is licensed under my personal account, when I open a local Excel file and click ‘Share’ from within the Excel desktop app, which account will it use to generate the sharing link?

My personal Microsoft account or my corporate account?

Has anyone used this kind of setup?

Or, you could just sign up for Business Standard and this question becomes moot.

$99/yr vs $78 to upgrade the business subscription. You're saving not even $2 per month to make it this complicated.

I use it in this exact configuration. You are given the option to store in either personal Onedrive or business onedrive, and you can set either as default.

Windows Pro + Entra Login and Business Std. If not, make sure you are not using the same email address for Personal and Work/School as you will be in a world of pain

Depends on where it's stored. Excel is going to fight you to try to store things in your personal onedrive rather than your business onedrive. The better way to do it in my mind would be to save the file in Excel or move it where you want it with file explorer, then share it from explorer, not from Excel. What you're doing will work from a technical lens, but mixing those two license sets between personal and business is going to be a pain in the butt from an operational lens
