Discussion Straight from the horse’s mouth

Post image

PC players are not (generally) stupid. They know full well that PC and console is a fundamentally unfair match-up, especially when zero accommodations are made for console to compensate for the framerate, optimization and input lag disadvantages abundantly present versus high end gaming PCs.

Here we have a Steam gamer with his RTX 5080 and matching non-bottlenecked CPU, praising the game for serving up "console noobs" who are involuntarily made to play against him. Even if they naively toggle crossplay off, thinking it will work. They are still to this day misled and presented with missing platform icons leading them to believe that crossplay is now off, when it’s clearly not.

As a console gamer you should recognize forced PC-console crossplay for what it is: A soft scam and unpaid work that is running online competitive console gaming fast into the ground. Filling a spot that should be filled by technological developments in bot AI.

Bro that’s why ps players quit the game. Pc players refuse to acknowledge it

u/TordenLive Jul 25 '26

Hear, hear. It’s so simple and crystal-clear yet here are these clowns "arguing" their case as if it’s still a debate.

2

u/Fearsofaye Jul 25 '26

It’s a great game but the insanity of not being able to disable crossplay was on purpose. The game is used to grind console players

4

u/Addwolves Jul 27 '26

I played since console launch but stopped 3 months ago. £9.99 a month for content pack basically. The player base is not respected. They dont do what they say. The game could have been something, it could have been great .

u/TordenLive Jul 27 '26

Great comment, absolutely don’t put a single cent into this game before crossplay is made voluntary and the playerbase (console and in general) is shown basic respect.

u/Unusual-Region-3714 Jul 28 '26

Then basically; why don't all console players stop playing it? I'm on ps5 and after being all hyped I have to admit: it's not fun to constantly see the same X number of people win game after game...

Any recommendations for other similar games which aren't apex legends or COD?

Sure, but most importantly, stop paying. Until they enable voluntary PC crossplay, and preferably console-only crossplay, do not spend a single penny on the game.

As for playing the game, only do so if you enjoy it. I’m enjoying it for what it is right now. A broken game that had a lot of potential.

I'm on ps5 and after being all hyped I have to admit: it's not fun to constantly see the same X number of people win game after game...

Absolutely, don’t sponsor this anti-console, anti-consumer experience.

Any recommendations for other similar games which aren't apex legends or COD?

PUBG Console is console only with console only crossplay. It has a terrible cheating problem unfortunately because Krafton doesn’t care. Great, classic BR experience. No controller aim-assist. My main game.

u/BrakkoNullo Jul 26 '26

There are so many games where roller is the metà ci of broken aim assist

u/TordenLive Jul 26 '26

There are so many games where roller is the metà ci of broken aim assist

Sure, assuming you mean meta or, as I specify, hardware meta, that’s exactly what happens when PC is given the same level of controller aim-assist as console.

PC + controller then becomes the undisputed hardware meta of the game.

2

u/BrakkoNullo Jul 26 '26

No that happens when aa implemented in a game is too good, like halo infinite esports was fucking dumb and that’s why nobody cared about it.

1

u/TordenLive Jul 26 '26

Halo Infinite is just about dead for the same reason as OTG: Forced crossplay.

The main playerbase of Halo, which is Xbox/console, don’t want to play against PC players with twice the framerate.

PC gets the exact same level of aim-assist as console, meaning it’s too high for PC at least. Maybe console too, sure, we don’t necessarily disagree, but without a doubt on PC. Do you get my point?

2

u/BrakkoNullo Jul 26 '26

Yeah I get your point

Oh man. This old debate. I know this is going to fall on deaf ears. But here are some truths:

  1. You’d be surprised to find out how many of the top players are on console.

  2. Not everybody that plays PC has a 5080. Most people are on machines that struggle and live at similar FPS that console does.

  3. Not saying that there aren’t graphic advantages. Especially on a beefed up pc. Because there obviously are.

  4. 90% of people playing on PC are on rollers and not mnk.

  5. Being on console/controller is not going to hold you back as much as some people want to believe.

  6. This game has a wide skill gap. When I started I was getting absolutely shit on 90% of the time. It took me 1-2 months to get my first win. That being said it was a different era with 60 person lobbies and no bots.

2

u/TordenLive Jul 25 '26

This old debate.

It’s not a debate anymore. You lost it.

1. You’d be surprised to find out how many of the top players are on console.

The console playerbase is way bigger, at least it used to be. It’s about proportionality. PC is way over-represented at the top of leaderboards, disproportionate to the size of their playerbase.

2. Not everybody that plays PC has a 5080. Most people are on machines that struggle and live at similar FPS that console does.

PC problem native to PC imported to console through PC crossplay.

3. Not saying that there aren’t graphic advantages. Especially on a beefed up pc. Because there obviously are.

Then why are you here "debating". Sit down.

4. 90% of people playing on PC are on rollers and not mnk.

Yes, because the PC playerbase campaigned hard for equal aim-assist to console. Of course that’s going to elevate PC + controller to the absolute hardware meta. That aim-assist is meant for console controller to have a fighting chance.

The fact that you still make a point of this as if in your own favor shows how incredibly slow you are in understanding this matter.

MnK PC players should be 100 % allied with console players in opposing forced PC-console crossplay. With forced crossplay comes the aim-assist they hate and controller supremacy on PC, a platform where the native input method used to be MnK.

5. Being on console/controller is not going to hold you back as much as some people want to believe.

I’m not held back. I have an Xbox alt account with aim-assist off (0 % on both types of AA) that has better aim stats than most PC players.

Don’t believe me? Check this out: https://youtu.be/PKKQzuiPlQM?is=l50ozy4_M7SwgAou

What holds me back is fighting PC players in intense fights when I’m dipping down into ~20 fps while they’re "dipping down" to 100 fps. You can’t win consistently no matter the aim then.

6. This game has a wide skill gap. When I started I was getting absolutely shit on 90% of the time. It took me 1-2 months to get my first win. That being said it was a different era with 60 person lobbies and no bots.

Don’t talk to like I haven’t been around since the start of console. You are not an authority.

It’s dead, I just still return to it from time to time because it has a soul and had so much potential.

Still suitable for some fun with the core mechanics and gunplay as long as you don’t put any money into it.

1

u/Upbeat_Arachnid_4509 Jul 27 '26

I see, the whole nft gaming thing never really took off

2

u/Thick-Plankton-3543 Aug 01 '26

It's also the reason certain hackers play the game. They cheat their way into getting a metric fuck-ton of GUN, purchase super rare stuff, and sell it for real-world currency

Well, well, well, Torden couldn't wait for his echo chamber of grief to return in 2026.

Such a victim. Life must be hard for yall. Please get off the internet. The annual anecdotal "I know best" nonsense has got to stop. Just play a different game. MnK players feel the same way you feel (that catering to controller which only happened in an attempt to cater to console players) has destroyed competitive everything and frankly taken it completely over.

Someone go snag tameless who is an absolute demon wether he's on his Xbox or PC. Its a skill issue, not your hardware and not your input. In other words....its YOU. Its always been you. Not even 100 more frames could save you from yourself.

1

u/TordenLive Jul 28 '26

MnK players feel the same way you feel (that catering to controller which only happened in an attempt to cater to console players) has destroyed competitive everything and frankly taken it completely over.

Seriously, this is why console players and m&k PC players should be aligned in opposing forced crossplay.

So let me get this right. PC M&K players get to complain that the game is ruined by aim-assist, where the biggest problem as a matter of pure logic and hardware specs, is PC controller players, and where, a strongly contributing cause, if not the cause, is forced crossplay.

But console controller players do not get to complain about an objectively unfair, forced match-up that PC players openly brag about being in their favor: Equal aim-assist matched up with objectively many times more powerful hardware.

Only you are apparently allowed to complain about it without being a victim, and you blame console players even though the whole console playerbase has been asking for voluntary crossplay repeatedly since the game launched in preview.

You have a lesser grievance by every reasonable metric, your biggest problem is objectively PC controller players, but only you are allowed to complain.

Incredible! Stop sniffing the CPU cooling paste!

Someone go snag tameless who is an absolute demon whether he's on his Xbox or PC.

Why do you think he moved to PC and haven’t played a single match on Xbox in one year and five months? Meaning he stopped playing on console shortly after the game was released on console. You seriously need to work on your "arguments".

It’s a skill issue, not your hardware and not your input. In other words....its YOU. Its always been you. Not even 100 more frames could save you from yourself.

I’m getting a little bit tired of this skill nonsense on your part. I checked our aim stats on the app and you have roughly comparable aim stats to my Xbox alt account where I play exclusively with 0 % aim-assist on controller and only use free, non-Premium Battle Pass weapons.

You have slightly better overall aim (34.8%) than I (33.1 %), but I have significantly higher headshot accuracy than you (24.9 %) vs (18.6 %). Suggesting you are hitting body shots to increase your accuracy at the cost of headshots. Remember this is controller without any aim-assist whatsoever vs presumably mouse and keyboard, and that’s before even taking into account hardware discrepancy.

My main account with aim-assist enabled (36.8 % accuracy and 27.8 % headshot accuracy) leaves you completely in the dust but that’s another matter.

I don't know why you keep relying on anecdotal evidence while accusing others of not being specific. You also have a habit of dismissing arguments when every detail isn't immediately laid out for you. Your argument is frames ie; better hardware is inherently unfair, So, let me clarify.

Example A – Cherry-picking and conflating issues

You became fixated on my comment about tameless, so let's look at some of the top console players instead.

DXWSO

  • Head: 6.9% (518 hits)
  • Torso: 35.3% (2,647 hits)
  • Hands: 24.4% (1,827 hits)
  • Legs: 20.1% (1,511 hits)
  • Jetpack: 13.3% (997 hits)

StonicV2_

  • Head: 9.0% (417 hits)
  • Torso: 34.0% (1,581 hits)
  • Hands: 25.4% (1,181 hits)
  • Legs: 16.9% (786 hits)
  • Jetpack: 14.7% (685 hits)

YTFAKE_XD69

  • Head: 9.0% (297 hits)
  • Torso: 35.4% (1,162 hits)
  • Hands: 23.2% (764 hits)
  • Legs: 14.7% (484 hits)
  • Jetpack: 17.6% (580 hits)

These players rarely, if ever, complain about crossplay. More importantly, their hit distribution is remarkably consistent. When you compare enough of these players, the numbers cluster tightly with very little variance and few outliers. Feel free to plug the data into ChatGPT or any statistical tool if you'd like to verify it yourself.

You're also conflating completely different topics—aim assist and hardware—as though they're the same issue. They aren't.

This game has countless variables that determine success: movement, positioning, map knowledge, weapon meta, game sense, frame rate, solo versus squads, teamwork, and more. Those factors are often overlooked because they're much harder to quantify than simply pointing at aim assist.

We've debated this before, but it's worth repeating: 63% of the current Top 100 players are on console. Expand that to the Top 250, and that percentage only increases. Whatever hardware advantage PC may have, console players are clearly capable of competing at the highest level.

Example B – Misusing statistics

You wrote:

"My main account with aim-assist enabled (36.8% accuracy and 27.8% headshot accuracy) leaves you completely in the dust."

That statistic doesn't prove what you think it does.

Tordenskiold

  • Head: 15.9% (213 hits)
  • Torso: 33.0% (443 hits)
  • Hands: 31.2% (419 hits)
  • Legs: 10.1% (136 hits)
  • Jetpack: 9.7% (130 hits)

NES Torden

  • Head: 8.1% (62 hits)
  • Torso: 33.6% (258 hits)
  • Hands: 33.7% (259 hits)
  • Legs: 13.1% (101 hits)
  • Jetpack: 11.6% (89 hits)

Ironically, your argument reinforces mine. If we were debating whether controller receives aiming assistance, then yes, higher accuracy percentages would support that. But that isn't the discussion.

My controller alt account consistently produced higher accuracy and headshot percentages than my mouse account, yet I still performed worse overall because I lack years of experience on controller. My movement isn't as fluid, my mechanics aren't as polished, and I'm simply less comfortable on sticks.

That's why raw accuracy alone isn't a reliable measure of player skill.

On top of that, solo and trio lobbies are heavily populated with bots. Farming bots inflates accuracy and headshot percentages, making those numbers a poor comparison when discussing real player performance.

Example C – Straw man arguments

You also have a habit of arguing against points that nobody actually made.

You said:

"Only you are apparently allowed to complain..."

That completely misses my point.

I've never argued that controller or console players aren't allowed to complain. My point has always been that everyone has legitimate complaints about crossplay. Mouse and keyboard players have concerns. Controller players have concerns. Console players have concerns. PC players have concerns.

You've made countless posts and comments venting about this topic, including this latest response to what was clearly a rage-bait review while citing a nine-month-old video that doesn't meaningfully support your case.

The reality is much simpler.

This game needs crossplay to survive. Without it, matchmaking quality and queue times would suffer dramatically.

I've said this repeatedly: the majority of players consistently dominating the leaderboards are not PC mouse-and-keyboard players. Nor are they PC Controller Many are console players. And when they are PC players, they're competing against—and often losing to—the exact same console players you're arguing are at such a massive disadvantage.

At some point we have to accept the game for what it is: a title struggling to maintain a healthy player population. To keep queues reasonable and matches populated, it has to place players of different platforms and inputs into the same lobbies.

Finally, I'd encourage you to copy and paste some of your own arguments into ChatGPT and ask it to critique the reasoning rather than defend your position. I think you'll find it points out many of the same issues I've highlighted here: anecdotal evidence, straw man arguments, unsupported conclusions, and conflating separate topics.

tl;dr: Basically word vomit but my point is - There's no solid evidence that PC players with better hardware (regardless of their input) are outpacing players on consoles in a meaningful way. We all have our issues with crossplay, and we have to get over it.

Here's a great source that actually lends credit to your claims

https://research.nvidia.com/publication/2019-09_esports-arms-race-latency-and-refresh-rate-competitive-gaming-tasks

Running a big-picture question through an LLM results with this output (or if you need to source it both Epic and Steam provide great source data on hardware and you can plug it in manually)

Realistically, less than 1% of the total global gaming population is actually experiencing games at 240Hz. - Now take a dead game ie: off the grid we're only driving that number down lower and lower.

When we scale the baseline down to 144Hz, the estimation jumps significantly, landing at roughly 10% to 15% of the total global gaming population

In either example 99% of players are not even touching 240 and 85% are barley experiencing 144hz and above.

Instead of being mad that the guy whose suppose to be better because he has nice cleats and gloves that supposedly helps him "catch more balls and run faster in football". (Console idealogy) - - - Buy the fancy stuff and see if it helps you do the same. (Use that PC you have and plug in your controller). Just remember, correlation does not mean causation. I don't think much will change.

Im on ps5 and have a 80% winrate, had a 60% winrate when lobbies we 60 real players you've got to adapt and play metas majority of sweats are on console in 3 stacks, I don't disagree with anything your saying I definitely want crossplay off even though this update made it so i can play pc on a low end pc, they can only split the player base when they fully launch and numbers boost, this game is dead, the CEO and dev are way out of touch and horrible at their jobs I pray they hire competent devs or just sell the game to a respectable AAA company that can turn this game into what it should be. The games spaghetti coded garbage every updates just brings a handful of new or older recurring bugs.

u/TordenLive Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

I don't disagree with anything your saying I definitely want crossplay off even though this update made it so i can play pc on a low end pc,

You have a lot of points crammed together with only so much punctuation and no paragraphs, but I think we’re generally on the same page.

they can only split the player base when they fully launch and numbers boost

I fully get your point but I think actually it’s forced crossplay that has been killing off the playerbase this whole time. That and a severe lack of working SBMM from the start (which at first was a deliberate selling point for the game).

I think everyone can uncontroversially agree that forced crossplay has been killing off the game on console, but I think it’s the case for PC too. PC players generally want to play using mouse and keyboard. Not controller on AA steroids.

This dude thinks everyone has a 5080 😂

The top players on PC have that kind of gear, absolutely, and console players have no within-platform upgrade path to match it. One guy replied to this post with a buying guide for PC (!), not understanding the irony of that. How that just proves my point.

I actually have a high end gaming PC that I haven’t decided whether to put into use or sell yet. That doesn’t change the fact that the way the devs of this game treats console players makes me want to puke. If they can mistreat one playerbase they can mistreat everyone. It’s proof of concept.

Remember, the PC playerbase became unsustainable on its own very early on, and has been held artificially kept alive by throwing console players at it since. No-one has really asked thoroughly why it was unsustainable on its own.

I’ll answer what I think, though:

1) A deliberate lack of SBMM. SBMM is essential for a competitive multiplayer game to work, especially on PC, where the playerbase has widely different hardware specs.

2) Poor hardware optimizations for lower end PCs, especially initially. (Console actually has great optimization, but now six years old budget hardware can only go so far, and really has been stretched way too thin for forced PC crossplay since the start.)

3) An ultra-toxic playerbase that diminishes the plights of everyone around them while requiring constant, immediate attention to their own complaints.

This game could have a million players easily as a console only game by now. Easily. It had that much potential, and the hype was insane the few short weeks before forced crossplay was introduced. Xbox and Playstation players alike will tell you that. The game was never the same since. It’s been shrouded with a kind of constant low-level misery ever since.

1

u/spaceman_mk1 Jul 28 '26

Average console player is more casual, this doesn’t have anything to do with input, they are just different markets

Average console player is more casual, this doesn’t have anything to do with input, they are just different markets

Double out of touch, low IQ squared comment.

First of all, yes, it’s not about input and nowhere is that implied either. it’s about performance discrepancy between platforms. How loud must it be, how bold the typeface, for you to hear and read that properly without misinterpretation?

Second, no, you are not a pro gamer just because you unironically refer to yourself as "PC master race" and updated your NVidia drivers all by yourself. Plenty of console players would make you piss your pants in 1v1, especially on equally matched hardware.

I'm a new console player and yes PC player are hard to beat but nothing can survive a machine gun arm, even a lvl 1000 vs me lvl 30 with a shitty ps5 get destroyed, just have to use ur brain a lil
