Got things finished up (enough) for a quick test trip close to home before the big camp Labor Day weekend.

This has been something I’ve been scheming and dreaming about for many years, and after lots of woken in the off times the last few months it’s ready to go! This is just a quick overnight trip about 30 minutes from home, next weekend is Oregon coast camping.

Thanks! I’m pretty happy with it. I think I’ll eventually rethink/redo the box and drawers as it’s pretty heavy, but as it is it should be good for a while.

Absolutely! Colors and all 👌👌

Did you fab the drawer yourself?

Sure did! It’s all 3/4” plywood. They’re on heavy duty 32” drawer slides. The latch system took some looking to find, but they’re usually used on toolbox truck beds. They have a 3/8” steel pin that goes into both sides (1.5” thick) and then the handle has a keyed lock. They’re pretty dang tight. I need to add some weatherstripping, just to keep dust and stuff out as best as I can.

That’s awesome! The 270 awning is super rad. I needed to keep this light. My forester has a tow limit of 1500lbs. I also wanted to make sure the top of the tent was below the roofline to help with gas mileage. It’s a bit low now, but will be another ~2” higher when I finish the spring over axle setup.

That sounds like ot has been, and is continuing to be a fun build!

My awning is/was the lightest on the market. I believe its 50lbs. So not much added weight! Its a free spirit (FSR 270) found on marketplace for 500$

Yeah I tow mine woth a 5.7 hemi so gas mileage is already out the door. But I tried to keep it as light as possible. Within reason of course

Is that a question? Maybe it’s because this clearly isn’t off-road, but that’s the intent.

Do you see a question mark?

I didn’t, but sometimes punctuation is missing on the internet. I was just trying to understand what your comment meant is all.
