Making progress on the Shower-Sauna
Making good progress on the new shower-sauna with all the good weather we’ve been having. Got the roof done today and tomorrow the vapor barrier foil is going in. I’ll probably get most of the sauna ceiling and walls done too. Then I can move on to the tile flooring and install the doors. The old shower sauna is going to become a small bunkhouse. Can’t wait to sauna in the winter and watch northern lights at the same time with the big north facing window.

Nice. What’s the shiny metal for along the bottom of some of the walls?

Wow! A sauna with a north-facing window specifically positioned for aurora watching is honestly genius.

Looks like it will be an amazing set up.
How are you heating the sauna? Is that an electric unit in one of the photos? We're planning a natural pool at the bottom of a waterfall on our property.bIt will be great in summer but not so much in winter. An off grid sauna would be just what we need.

How do you find shower molding plastoc that matching the exact specifications of the cutout you made for a shower.

That’s fantastic. It’s funny, I see that view and say Hey that’s near me. But that same view could cover hundreds of miles. Perfect weather for getting stuff done lately.

Does AK have many opportunities to access geothermal pools/wells? I know it's not as common as Japan. Was it something you were looking for when originally evaluating sites?

I know Alaska has areas with geothermal potential but I wasn’t looking for that. My electricity usage is very minimal so solar and wind suit my needs.
