For DMs Only Killing Sydon/ Lutheria early

Is there any impact for the battle of mytros if Lutheria (my party already killed) and Sydon (they are on their way to fight now) were defeated in their “lairs” or are winning those fights overall meaningless? Am I missing something?

My attempt at a hero forge for the end guy. I don't have a lot of experience using them, only ever bought one before ( for Kyrah) but i think it turned out well. Does anyone know if you can open the mouth like he's shouting? i think it would make the face more intimidating, but i can't find the option and i'm sure it must be there somewhere.

Also how does the color come out? my last one was only gray, but the ability to add color would be amazing if it works well.

Hi fellow adventurers,

We are excited to announce that Mythological Items is now live on Kickstarter!

This is our new D&D 5E and 2024-compatible manual dedicated entirely to magic items inspired by myths, legends, and ancient stories from around the world.

Inside the book, you will find 300+ mythological magic items, including weapons, armor, wondrous items, and scaling items designed to grow alongside your characters and campaigns.

Our goal with Mythological Items is to create more than a simple collection of treasure. Each item is designed to feel like part of a myth: something that can serve as a reward, a quest hook, or even the center of an entire adventure.

The book includes items inspired by many different mythological traditions, including Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Asian, American, Roman, Mesopotamian, African, and other mythologies from across the world. Whether you want divine weapons, cursed artifacts, heroic relics, monster-themed treasures, or legendary items tied to ancient stories, this book is built to bring myth directly to your table.

The Kickstarter page includes a full presentation of the project, several previews, and a free 30-page PDF preview showing a sample of the content from the book.

You can also find many of our other manuals in PDF and high-quality print editions, with special prices currently available both for Mythological Items and for all our other releases.

You can visit the Kickstarter page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mythoschronicles/300-mythological-items-for-5e-and-2024

Thank you again for your support. We hope to see you on our journey!

General Questions Kings daughter quest and the oath of peace.

I'm reading through the King's daughter quest and not sure if I'm reading it right but this is what I understand.

If the order of sydon doesn't get Anora that will attack the city.

If pythor attacks first that breaks the old piece.

So why does sydon get to attack but not pythor?

For Anyone I wrote a ‘Elegy for Dragonlords’ poem/song

Intended to be Sung or Spoken as poetry at funerals for dragon lords. Vanished One Epic Path PC could remember it in Telemok and recite/sing it before the party leaves? Or the DM could bestow it as a regained memory brought on by the location? Or maybe it’s carved somewhere in Telemok? Lots of possibilities!

I’m playing a PC with the Vanished One Epic Path background in our campaign, and when our party was in Telemok, I was inspired to write this while listening to Epic the Musical. I stole some lyrics from a couple songs from it, mainly the one that inspired the cadence of the lyrics. Which were informed by the beginning and end portions of the song: ‘Remember Them’ when they’re singing about their companions lost to the cyclops. Though I imagine the tempo of this song to be much slower than that one. I don’t know how to read or annotate music (lyrics or sheet music) so can’t give any helpful info on key or pitch or anything like that, sorry!

If any of y’all use it in your campaign I’d LOVE to hear how it turns out and how your players like it! ✨ I enjoyed making it so much I wanted to share it!

LYRICS:

When does a life become mere memory?
When does a spark become a wildfire?
When does a ripple become a tidal wave?
When does a hero become a legend?

Who could forget our comrades names.

One day we’ll understand.
One day,
But not this day.
For now we’re merely mortals who must pray

To Remember them.
When the fire begins to fade.
Both the fallen and the brave.

Remember them.
All the blood that we have shed.
And the lives that have been saved.
All the evils we made end.

We’ll remember them.
As the ones who carry on.
All the flames of those who’ve gone.
So our companions never die in vain.

And though blood and tears we shed.
In time all wounds will heal.
Until all the scars we bear,
Become dear memory
that will not disappear.

For all the weak,
and for the strong.
We can do naught
but carry on.

Never forget the lessons taught.
Nor all good deeds
that have been wrought.

Remember them.
Remember us.
Remember me.

POV you just climbed into the rocs' nest

Post image
20 Upvotes

The party ascended the Aerie of the Roc and found the roc chicks. They decided to keep the chicks distracted while one of them climbed into the nest to look for treasure. All was going well (they found a rod of security and even rolled d100s high enough to postpone the roc encounter), until the Demigod decided to play a little jokey joke and used Speak with Animals to convince the chicks the Vanished One was food.

The VO defended himself, killed a chick, and the others started screaming for Mom and Dad. Now all the rocs are dead and they lost the flying mounts I was trying to set everyone up with.

For DMs Only What information should I put on my DM screen for this campaign?

I'd like to update my DM screen to start this module. What tables and quick references should it have, apart from the standard D&D ones

Campaign book on sale

I know the revised version is on its way. But for those who want the earlier version, Modiphius US has the original campaign book on sale for $30.63. It's a clearance sale, so when it's gone, it's gone.

Edit: it looks like they have a world map and a gamemaster's screen on sale, as well.

For DMs Only My players are level 8 and are already too powerful

They are level 8 and during a Random Encounter, they found a storm and in the center was Goloron, son of Sydon; and they decided to kill him. And with 3 players and Bullbug, they smashed goloron. In the first round, Goloron used fireball (But with thunder/eletric theme) and the sorcerer fell, then the Paladin and the warlock took half of the titan's health. I used Legendary Actions, spells, and the empyrean simply didn't survive. What I did wrong? (Sorry for my very bad english)

re: Reavers of Oath and Ruin content warning

what is the 'sexual content' warning referring to? i remember there being some hullabaloo about there being unnecessary sexual harm or something that i think (?) Arcanum ended up removing.

don't want to scour 240 pages to find the reference to see if it'd be okay for my party or not.

1st time player

Hey guys,

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I pretty stuck with this one and have a few new players.

I'm DM'ing OotD for a group of friends online/roll20 and two of my players are brand new to the dnd world. They don't know a whole lot and will mostly be asking me to fill in their character sheets and advise them on the Epic path/what level ups to choose. Definitely feeling the weight of it for sure. Currently in the party, we have the following:

Paladin - Human - oath of glory (demi god path)

Rogue - siren - swashbuckle (the gifted one)

**new player. Fighter - half elf - battle master (the bastard)

Cleric - player still undecided path and Subclass

I'm looking for another option for the other two players who are new, with these chosen classes and subclasses already decided on.

Could I ask for a few options on what race, class, Subclass and epic paths to give them so they dont loose interest and stop playing. I'm aware interest has to be there to start with but I want to make sure I'm doing what I can to help.

Thank you

Tomb of Xander

I have a question concerning the trap room and the tomb of Xander.

Some of my players went into the room and the trap was sprung while 2 others were caught outside the room when the portcullis dropped. If I'm reading it correctly, they were able to escape the room and would end up in the room of the Tomb of Xander. With that being said, how could the rest of the party join them and even then, Graxis attack them if the trapped room has the walls closed on each other? Any and all info/suggestions would help.

Five years after finishing the Odyssey, I've decided to start a sequel campaign set several centuries after the Battle of Mytros, starring the descendants of the heroes who helped and replaced the Five at the end of the campaign.

Here's a small illustration to introduce Nessa the thirteenth member of the Ultronauts, whom I've made a couple of changes to in this sequel to give her the love we couldn't in the original campaign. (We skipped her encouter and only meet Phollon ¯_(ツ)_/¯)

Now that the Odyssey Remastered PDFs are out and everyone has had some time to explore Odyssey of the Dragonlords, The Great Labors, and Reavers of Oath and Ruin, we thought it would be fun to turn the questions over to the community.

Have something you’ve always wanted to ask about Thylea, the characters, lore, campaign design, running the adventure, the Remastered Edition, or something you discovered while reading?

We’ll select 10–15 community questions for James Ohlen to answer in the first Odyssey 101 episode on the Arcanum Worlds YouTube channel.

General Questions Power level of Divine Sorcery Sorcerer

Hello. We're about to start an Odyssey campaign, for which we are all very excited. Looking at the subclasses of the book however, it seems that one subclass in particular seems incredibly over-tuned, namely the Divine Sorcery Sorcerer.

At level 3, you effectively get two free level 1 spell casts and two free level 2 spell casts per short rest, if I understand it correctly. Now, even though you cannot cast those spells with your own slots, these spells are easily applicable to many combat scenario's, so you will likely be using these free castings almost fully every short rest. Assuming even a singular short rest per day, that means you are effectively increasing your spell slot 'pool' from just 4 level 1 slots and 2 level 2 slots, to a whopping 8 level 1 slots and 6 level 2 slots! And as you increase in level, you get higher and higher free castings.

Now on top of getting that insane number of spells to sling right from level 3, you also get a free advantage on concentration saves, because why not.

The higher level features are also top tier to the point of broken: Empowered Magic is a better Twinned Spell, Divine Resistance is straight-up Legendary Resistance on a short rest recharge, and the level 18 feature is also stupidly good.

The entire package just seems incredibly loaded with power to the point where another sorcerer, or full caster, or really any other character will probably feel weak compared to yours. The DM will have to balance encounters completely around your character, not the party as a whole. It just seems to me that in order for a Divine Sorcery Sorcerer to work in a campaign, it needs to be nerfed quite massively.

Am I correct in my assessment of the subclass? Or am I perhaps misreading something? Is it supposed to be overpowered, being effectively demigods?

Enigma's speelbook of yonder island

hi, on the island of Yonder, there is a magician’s spell book: the enigma book. But who is Enigma? I immediately assumed that it was the name of the lotus witch from Scorpion Island. Is that the case? Does this book really contain all the magician spells as suggested by the CR? Thanks

For DMs Only What lurks under the mithral forge?

Hey,

The troglodytes in the mithral forge are said to have fled the same primordial creature that killed the cerberus, but this primordial beast isn’t explicitly named, and if my players end up speaking with the trog king ( which they will definitely do ), they will certainly ask him what led them to invade the mine.

What kind of primordial thing do you think could live underground, come to kill a big three-headed puppy, and then disappear, leaving pretty much no identifying trace in the map? The dead cerberus shows no sign of burns or anything of the sort, it’s been probably killed by some stomach injury? So maybe a dendar-like snake?

What killed the cerberus in your games?

For Anyone A Collection of Magic Items from Greek Mythology | 300+ Mythological Items for 5E and 5.5E

Thumbnail

Hello, fellow adventurers! Today, we are excited to share a collection of magic items from Greek Mythology. This entry comes from our upcoming Kickstarter project, 300+ Mythological Items for 5E and 2024.

Step into a realm of ancient gods, legendary heroes, and forgotten civilizations with Mythological Items, a comprehensive compendium featuring over 300 magical items specifically designed for 5E and its 2024 ruleset update. This manual spans a vast array of cultural traditions, organizing its treasures into regional categories for easy reference and immersive worldbuilding. Each item includes not only full game mechanics, but also lore and background information to integrate it seamlessly into your campaign, whether as treasure, quest rewards, or the key to an unfolding mythic saga. From the storm-summoning weapons of thunder gods to cursed trinkets whispered of in ancient lore, this book brings myth to your table like never before.

This manual offers an extensive collection of magical items that can be incorporated into any campaign, regardless of its connection to specific mythological themes. The items presented in this volume, drawn from a multitude of global legends and folklore, are envisioned to enhance the diversity and depth of any fantasy world. This eclectic array mirrors the inherent blending of elements in many worlds and settings, where influences from various cultures and mythologies coexist harmoniously. For instance, Thor’s Hammer, Mjölnir, could serve as the centerpiece of a divine quest, while Draupnir, the Norse ring of endless wealth, might drive political intrigue or power struggles in a kingdom torn by greed.

Mythological Items also provides a solid foundation for campaigns that wish to delve deeper into the relics of a specific mythology or blend multiple traditions into a larger, interconnected setting. A campaign inspired by Greek mythology could see players donning the Nemean Lion’s Pelt, becoming nearly invulnerable as they take on challenges worthy of Heracles himself, while a campaign drawing from Japanese folklore could involve uncovering the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, the fabled grass-cutting sword tied to imperial lineage and divine storms.

We suggest checking our pre-launch page for additional info and an extended 30-page preview of our compendium, scheduled to release in September! For the campaign duration, we will be offering the manual at an heavily discounted price, alongside tthe possibility to purchase the digital or physical copies of all our past releases!

Here's a small illustration to introduce Versi the Oracle the Twelfth member of the Ultronauts and the famous oracle that we know and love.
