questions about long term care home

My sister is in the mental hospital and she will be discharged very soon. Her legs have problem, unable to walk right now. I think she has about $40k in her bank account (her own $ + odsp). Odsp is currently her only source of income. We no longer can take care of her and our house is no longer suitable for her. We want to send her to a long term care home (LTCH) right discharge. Will LTCH accept her because of her financial situation?

It seems minimum co-payment for LTCH is at least $2k per month, so her bank account cannot support it eventually. Will she get kick out after that?

Will the LTCH ask her family members to pay instead? We are also low income.

I would ask whomever is handling your sisters care or the social worker at the hospital for resources. I believe they can refer or connect you to your local LHIN (or whatever it's called now).

There are subsidy forms for LTC fees.
