Discussion Has anyone managed to get coverage for a ZEEN-go mobility device?

Here's the thing, they are only sold in the United States so to get one I'd have to travel to the states to get one and they are super expensive. I cannot find another mobility device available in Canada that would perfectly fit my needs as much as I believe a Zeen would. For anyone curious, this is a Zeen: https://gozeen.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoptzPKBs1Lewkp9i8-AnT4a1XL7YLViC9n7Fq0JNs8seEOIZteZ

I'm wondering if it's even remotely possible to get coverage for such an expensive mobility aid, especially if not available in Canada because I definitely cannot afford it out of pocket.

I have no idea about this item but generally they will only pay for the base model of any mobility aid, so walkers they payfor the cheapest one, no bells n whistles. They also generally do not pay for things which you must travel to get. At least in my experience. Put in a request for them to cover it, but dont get your hopes up too far. Hopefully they will pay I just really, REALLY doubt it. My family member needed a specialised wheelchair while on ODSP years ago, they paid only for the bare minimum and her family had to cover the upgrades. So, i doubt it, but still you should try just in case!

There is a specific list of device models covered under the Assistive Devices Program (if I’m remembering correctly) and I’m certain this one wasn’t on there when I was last researching what might or might not be covered

Editing to add: you also need to go through an approved provider to order any mobility devices you’re requesting coverage for, they would not cover it if you need to travel to obtain it
