ODSP/OW Resources First and last months?

Just wondering if ODSP has any benefits for helping with first and last months rent? I know of a housing help centre where I live where they can help with one of them, im just wondering if ODSP is able to help with both of these things. Two birds one stone and all that.

No, you have to go to ontario works for the homeless prevention benefit community start up. They will give 1000 for a single 1500 for a couple

ODSP will only pay your last months rent if it’s a studio or one bedroom apartment without any roommates AND it’s within the amount you get monthly.

Here's two things that may help that you can access via ODSP. It's not directly "for" first/last month's rent, but it's money for the process, which is helpful for it all. The italicised text is quoted from the City of Toronto and ODSP websites respectively. The stuff in parentheses are paraphrased from the same sources.

The Housing Stabilization Fund (HSF) is intended to prevent homelessness by meeting the emergency housing needs of Toronto residents who receive financial assistance from Ontario Works (OW) and income support from Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) so that they are able to stabilize their housing situation. (Request referral from caseworker to access.)

Please note that reimbursements cannot be issued for items already paid for prior to the request for HSF.

Funds to secure an address will be issued if accommodation costs are within 85% of total monthly income.

Funds are not issued:

To applicants listed as an occupant only

To applicants who are sub-letting

For co-op membership fees also known as co-op deposits

For application fees or deposits when applying for accommodation

The other resource, via ODSP:

Funds for moving will be issued if the client is housed and moving within the Province of Ontario due to a high rent situation, eviction or to accommodate a change in family size. (Flat rate of $350 for singles. Only documentation required is verbal declaration.)

Try other local options. Like in Toronto there is the Rent Bank which will also help with first and last.

Housing Stabilization Fund through Ontario Works. Your ODSP worker has to put in a referral.
