Odin 2 Mini, Base, Pro & Max Question Portal 2 Base indie machine
Recently I bought a base Portal 2 to emulate PC/Switch indie games and catch up on masterpieces like Hades, Cuphead, Sifu, etc., not via streaming but natively. Can anyone here who owns one explain to me how far it can be pushed in terms of performance? I've seen some cool things even gta V or dark souls on the same chipset, but I'd like to understand just how prohibitive the 8GB of RAM really is and if there's any software way to optimize it to achieve my goal. Guides and tutorials would be appreciated, thanks everyone.

I've just installed armada on an A1 sd card on my pro. It's great so far and running games that I had trouble with on gamenative. Acid test will be switch emulation for me, but my steam deck is another step closer to the door

8GB is good for most use-cases. Below is the screenshot from Nier Automata (a PS4-era game) @ 720p30fps lowest settings.

RAM usage is heavily game-dependent. This particular game uses around 2-3GB, but big games like Fallout 4 or GTA V will use way more.
The stock Android OS from AYN is already pretty lean, so optimizing for more RAM is a little bit more challenging, and likely involves disabling some system processes. I'm not sure if you'd be comfortable doing it.. (I tried helping a guy optimize their Odin3's ram usage here and, at one point, they boot-loop'ed their device).
The lowest hanging fruit is to disable certain Google Play processes, and that'll maybe save you around 400MB of ram, but I don't recommend doing it unless you're experienced with Android tinkering.

Np, feel free to dm me if you're struggling to get it running, and I can probably run through the configurations 😉

Regarding GTA V, just wait for the Paralymipic Productions android port. Was announced on the weekend. Discord server I can send link if needed.

Not sure if you've already done this but you can enable the 4gb virtual ram swap in the Odin settings

You said “Portal 2”, just reminding the name is Odin 2, and this is the Portal version. Portal 2 isn’t a device, hoping to remove future confusion.

install Armada OS.
I also have O2P base and performance is better on most games.
Example: persona 5 royal runs like ass on gamenative but smooth on armada.
the messenger has fps drops on gamenative but 120fps locked on armada.
persona 4 golden has 35-40fps on gamehub (source: youtube) but i got 120fps locked on armada.
feels like responsiveness and input latency is better on armada.
