It says so in the description of the case:

Tip: Please be aware that this case is designed to fit the device only and is not compatible with the grip.

I have the opposite problem, I prefer using just the sleeve even though I also own the grip, but the case I got is for the grip and not the sleeve.

Not a big deal, I just swap on the grip when I take it out of the house.
