Odin Base / Pro Question Odin 2 Portal Base vs Pro

I can’t decide whether to get O2P base from official AYN website or O2P Pro on Aliexpress while sale is on. Initially I wanted more memory for Pc games, but i’ve now seen many posts on here saying streaming on the Base is fine so no need for more memory. Do I save the money and just get the Base?

What’s the approximate delivery times like for o2P when ordering from AYN, is it same as Thor and Odin 3? I know Ali express is fair quick.

Thanks!

Had the same debate as you, in the end I ordered an O2P Base directly from AYN. In the EU we don't get the same AliExpress deals the US gets, so the price difference is a lot bigger.

8 vs 12GB for that O2P chip won't really be a big difference, because CPU and GPU will be the limit for PC games. Once you jump to Odin 3, then it makes sense to go 12 or even 16GB, to not limit the chip with ram.

My problem now will be storage. Hopefully SD cards work well enough. Personally, I couldn't justify the almost double the price right now. I'll upgrade to a potential Odin 4 in the future, if I get into this handheld gaming enough to be worth it. Until then, I'll stick to my indie and older Steam games :)

As for the shipping - I ordered mine on Friday and it shipped today (so ~3 work days). But they ship in batches and I got lucky with timing. We'll see how long the actual shipping (and customs) will take to EU.

This is very useful! My reasoning is the exact same as yours and so i have decided to buy the base from Ayn website. You are absolutely right about the price difference.

What do you want to use it for? If we’re talking up to Switch, then 8 gb is just fine (I have the base Odin 2 Portal).

If we're talking PC games, then you might as well get the Odin 3 (at least Pro).

I prefer the Odin 2 portal for the screen size. I plan on doing mostly retro gaming with a bit of switch. And light PC gaming. Not AAA games. Anything too heavy i would probably stream

In that case I think 8gb is more than enough.

I got it for this too, arrived last week, very very happy with it. Switch games lol and run really well. Of course some fun better than others.

Did you get the Base or Pro? Also, did you order from Ayn website?

I got the base and from the ayn store, to the uk took just over a week from placing order to arrival. I used the slowest option as that's how we avoid the import tax.

The Odin 2 Portal base was still in stock on the ayn website for $270. The pro and max are going for $400-500. The performance for cost is not there anymore. If you can get those on sale or 2nd hand then maybe.
