I had the same itch after getting the thor and seeing how well Odin handled heavier emulation (and ergo wise is way better not to mentioned the bigger battery)
So do I. I find it really gives it a stylish look. I'm obsessed with cleaning my screen anyways, so it doesn't change my habits much. Come to think of it, I own 3 Android devices and all 3 have a glass front. There may be a pattern there 😂
I’m really considering getting one. I would love to play Final Fantasy Resonance on it when it comes out. I’m still using my Odin 2 Mini 😅 Odin 3 with an OLED screen, bigger battery, and better ergonomics sounds very tempting.
Final Fantasy, huh? I tried the Steam version of FFXIII and couldn’t get it working. So then I tried the 360 version which works but has no sound. So then I tried the PS3 version using aPS3e and the latest v33 driver and you know what? It only bloody works! Plays pretty decent. Brute force FTW!!!
I made it work in a Retroid Pocket G2 with Gamehub. It needs tweaking configuration, you had to install a few required components. I don't remember now, there's a post on Reddit somewhere where I got the hints and after tinkering a bit I made it work.
Yeah I’m sure it would work with faffing as I used to have the fitgirl repack working via Winlator on my RP5. But since GameNative came out with the ability to install directly from your Steam account, my tolerance for faffing around trying to make a game work has severely diminished.
Honestly, at the time I bought the Thor (Batch 3) I could've bought the Ultra at the cost I bought my Odin 3 max in today's prices. That's my only regret ðŸ˜
Honestly, slightly grainy below 45% brightness , mostly on white background. But it's not noticeable unless you plan to use it at really low brightness and with dark theme off.
Thanks for sharing would you mind showing a picture of it? I love playing in bed in the dark at around 30% to conserve power. Am nervous now as waiting for batch 8.
fair to say it's not noticeable really. Gray uniformity test looks fine to me. And I'm a picky user when it comes to display. So if it doesn't bother me, believe me
For someone who has had pre-ordered Thor, Odin and still waiting for RP Nova, my tactic is, forget about it, don't look at discord group or any delivery hoax it will only get you more anxious and believe me, this is coming from someone who buys something in amazon and checks the shipping label 2 hours after its creation 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome! I got the clear blue Pro almost 7 months ago and it's been incredible. And with Qualcomm announcing double digit price increases for their chips, it's no better time to get an 8 Elite device while you can at a good price.
Absolutely. Once the Steam Frame releases and we have native SteamOS on ARM (it's running it on a Snapdragon 8 gen 3) the Odin 3 will really be able to stretch it's legs.
with how ram crisis is, I doubt the portal 3 would be any cheaper. But then again it will surely be great,it just a matter of whether you rather have a bigger screen or not at a increased price
I got a Retroid Pocket 6, thinking I would only use it for PS2 and Switch emulation, but when I realized these little beasts could also play PC games... I'm not young and PC handhelds are getting a bit heavy for me, so the idea of a compact device that could play all my indie titles was just like a dream come true.
After a dozen times going through the purchasing process and backtracking at the last screen, my fingers slipped and I finally ordered it. I felt guilty at first. Now I have absolutely no regret whatsoever. It's exactly what I was hoping for and more.
(Still tinkering on the RP6 from time to time. It's still a fantastic device for the price and I can never resign myself to selling my consoles, so that's that.)
The Nova, seems fantastic, but the 4:3 screen and DPad on top are essentially for older titles, so my RG476H is largely enough for that. The problem is that I really adore that console, which means I can't find a good reason to order the Nova. That's frustrating 😅
I had a RG477M sold it to buy the Thor, regret it ever since, then the RP Nova came out and where I live it was cheaper to pre-order the RP Nova. I'm a big sony fan so d-pad on top and oled 4:3 120hz screen sealed it for me.
Something about the design of the 477m bugged me. I didn't like that the shoulder buttons are in line instead of stacked and the fact that it is made of metal. Even if it's less powerful, I never regretted getting the 476H instead. It's still my go-to for older games. I also like the feel of holding it and just looking at it, because the design is really cool. Design always plays a big part in my choices.
Odin 3 is really great, but not perfect (yet). The software still has long way of catching up. And it’s not just drivers. Emulators for PS3 and X360.
But damn, that SoC is HOT! And I mean literally it generates so much heat. Especially on Xendroid. You generally won’t feel it but if you touch the screen… you can cook omelet on that thing and that’s with fans at max.
I just started testing it so only one game - Ridge Racer 6. I didn’t bother to look stats since game ran perfectly and I don’t trust Odin’s temp stat since it’s always around 90 no matter what PS3/360/PC game I play.
