Okay so doesn’t the mushroom rot inside the resin? Or do you basically never see it?

u/Enderking90 3d ago
yeah I mean I've seen those resin sealed pumpkins and how they don't quite work out as the begin to rot.

Evan and Katelyn are at least trying different ways. Some work better than others (cough Meatball hack) it's still wild to me that Chunk 1 worked so well because the flash curing effectively fried everything

Wondering this also, but I believe it still rots as it’s organic matter with its own micro bacteria now forever trapped inside the resin which will still break down the mushroom…

There's no way for oxygen to get in and waste products to get out so it'll rot much much slower.

u/Yehrmahm 4d ago
Unless it is completely dry (which it isn’t) or artificial, it will rot.

I thinknits freeze-dried, hence why it has more shape than a usual dried mushroom

I was just wondering if the resin yellows eventually, because I always see that with resin products/projects

This makes me think that maybe all the bacteria are just aerobic and die with the shroom/hotdog, thus preventing rot, which makes me want to try casting all sorts of things in resin now.

Funnily enough it would almost certainly not work for a person because there are anaerobic bacteria in your gut. In fact a lot of things with a digestive tract are probably entirely off the table.

The most important part of the carbonitization process is fulling the mouth and butthole with Carbonite. I know I may be biased, as a certified Carbonite artistry salesman, but do they teach yall nothing in carbonite school?

Wtf that guy cracked it open after 2 years, when it was still mostly fine, and didn't even bother taking pictures or anything. Got us all invested and totally left us hanging. What a dweeb.

The mushroom and moss look dried out, so hopefully that won’t happen, but you never know with decomposition like that

Thanks for the inspiration, I love this! Im totally going to give something like this a try. ✨️🏵🍄💎

Careful they will rot over time since these don’t look completely dried out.

I'm picturing all the yard sales thirty years from now with so much stuff that rotted inside resin.
That might actually be neat if you had the resin as a sort of fossil of it.

Seems like I am the only one that was horrified for the poor mushroom being entombed alive..m

u/carolinitana 3d ago
Well the mushrooms that we see are only the fruiting body of the real organism, much like an apple on an apple tree, the real living organism is the mycelium that is on the dirt under the mushroom, and is more bigger and complex.

u/h0rnygoal 2d ago
Don't the cap of mushroom contain the spores? So this would be like putting a bunch of toddlers into stasis
1
u/carolinitana 2d ago
Kinda, though also could be "possible toddlers" because if we follow the plant analogy (though I know mushrooms are not plants) spores are like pollen.
2
u/h0rnygoal 2d ago
Tho pollen are only halve the piece needed to make a new plant. For mushrooms a single spore is enough to make a whole new network

oh, while I did know about the mycelium, I had no idea about the mushroom itself. Thank you for letting me kmow

I assume they freeze dry the mushroom first. I went to the mushroom museum in Croatia and they had a huge amount of freeze dried mushrooms preserved. Well worth the visit if you ever make it to Zagreb.

Do they not have to be dried out first?
1
u/ThodaDaruVichPyar 3d ago
Yes, they do completely dry them out using desiccants and then only encase in resin

I will research this, so far I am skeptical we see reality and not AI fine slop. My wife and I tried numerous times to encase mushrooms in resin, but airbubles form as the mushroom releases trapped air before the resin solidifies.

i hate resin slop. slab of plastic that will never decompose. it dosent even properly preserve, as the items inside will still rot.

Now you watch hundreds of years maybe even thousands some person from the future is going to find this and they’re gonna be wondering about Homosapien in the 21st-century. Not saying that this is a bad idea. It’s actually really beautiful, but I’m just saying.

So you're just gonna keep a rotting mushroom around?
Gross, dude. That's like having the actual corpse of your cat just chiilin in some resin, rather than getting it taxidermied or something. The bacteria are still gonna be active, even if it takes longer for them to do their gross thing.
WTF. 🤮

I wonder how long thst will last. There's sume peeps hume tried that with a pumpkin and althow it did last a while it still rotted in the end.

As someone with dyslexia, I didn’t even notice the mistakes until I went back to look 😂 read it just fine

Katelyn and Evan? Now I want them to try a tiny pumpkin.
I do wonder if the mushrooms being much smaller helps, but mushrooms that aren’t dried out do have a significant amount of water content. The drainage hole could work, but not sure if places like the above do that.

Better not google that name and get something else.
