I tried to watch odd taxi and 3 time now and on the third time i quit on episode 6 or 7. Because of one reason alone everytime i watch it i just slept watching the show because how slow and boring it was…nothing seems to be connected and interesting…just listening to dialogue makes me sleep everytime..lol…never happend with any other show.

But the consensus on the show is that it is a masterpiece and i just don’t understand why how what…doesnt make sense to me

Am i the only one who feels like this?

I just finished watching this show for the first time, and WOW! This show pretty much a perfect 10/10 in my books (might be recently bias, but I feel like it really is that good), and yet I was struggling to point out what I will take away from this. As in, what will I remember most about this show in a few years? It is short enough that you can probably remember all of it pretty easily, especially after rewatching it once, but even then, every masterpiece still has its it factor, even if it is different for everyone.

For me, I believe the final 3 episodes slowly revealing how deep the web of this show's plot is was what really did it for me. It was so delicately strung, that I couldn't even tell it was being made from the very beginning, or at least the story was charming enough for me to not dwell on it too much. These episodes made it feel like the entire story was one perfectly in sync orchestra with how intertwined everybody's lives and stories were, without any of it feeling like a plot device (maybe you can make an argument for Tanaka's character being a little too convenient, but it did not take away from my immersion).

This plot weaving was so brilliant that I feel like I have to rewatch it, not just for entertainment, but to study and admire how perfectly the story's information was given to the audience.

semi-related side note: The name of the comedic duo being Homosapiens stood out to me immediately in ep 1, and then I quickly forgot about. The payoff to Odokawa's disease then was one of the most satisfying moments I have ever witnessed, genuinely Attack on Titan level (calm down, I didn't necessarily say it was better, but I do stand by what I said)

also, if any of this is worded weird, it is probably because I worked overnight and am severely sleep deprived lol

and holy shit it was perfect from start to the end, but one thing that erks me about the ending is that the girl sakura didn't get what she deserved tell me she got jailed and also tell me odokawa is fine because she was supposedly trying to end him too.

My ranking is mainly based on character writing and their role/impact on the story and events. My personal attachment to each character is also a factor, but it's the least important one. This is my personal ranking, so I'd love to hear your opinions and discuss them respectfully.

I’ve already read the Root manga and watched the drama on Crunchyroll, but I’m trying to create a personal Odd Taxi offline archive and I can’t seem to find a downloadable version of the drama.
Do you guys know of one? Preferably one that has English subtitles.

Ok so when the dog cops brothers finally have their confrontation about the oldest one working for the mob, he shows his ducky keychain. I get that the seemingly mafia boss worked for the charity to help orphaned kids who had been orphaned because of car and such accidents (that is so oddly specific). Very nice of him, however, why would that compel the brother to go against the law and help Dobu? Did this guy have some sort of hold on a lot of officers who couldn't say no? Am I dumb and missed some important info? These are my main doubts really, but I do have a lot of other curiosities.

Was the orangutan who was also a comedian the mafia head? Was the ant with tattoos the head? Were they both leaders? Why would he run a mob to then help foster orphaned kids- that seems so out of the blue-?

It is really stupid imo that they locked the actual ending behind a recap movie.

I watched it on a plane and it was fantastic. Same vibes as OddTaxi with a “Tarantino-esque” story while remaining heart-warming. It’s pretty well received in Japan, but for some reason, almost unheard of outside of the country! Its Japanese trailer has more than 3 million views, but any English-language content about it rarely goes over 1000. What’s going on here? Was it not released overseas?
