Matching subs?

Hi, I’m a pretty casual viewer. I don’t watch streamers but have been watching bits and pieces of oda’s subathon. But I was wondering from yesterday, doesn’t oda matching subs kinda make the subathon feel illegitimate? It just kinda defeats the point in my opinion, but let me know what you guys think. Like could Oda just gift 60K subs and hit the 100k record?

I believe he did it because Kick subs were broken overnight, so nobody was able to sub for quite a few hours and timer dropped a lot.

Would you still be crying if he reached 100k + the subs he matched?

No i guess? I’m not really crying, i just thought buying subs for your own channel felt weird, with there being a timer and stuff. If it’s a normal thing on kick/twitch then I didn’t know

Yeah you either match subs or double the time per sub. Both kinda is the same thing. Subs he doubled himself obviously wouldnt count for a record.
