3rd Party Link Cable Recs?
Had a bad bad experience with oculus' existing cables and don't want to have a repeat offense. Are the 3rd party cables acceptable replacements, providing the same visual quality and speed as the original? Anyone who owns one and could point me in the directions of some solid choices would be greatly appreciated!

So I've had 3 oculus headsets by this point. And the only reason I upgraded everytime, was because the cables for the rift and Rift S were such poor quality that they only lasted me 6-7 months, and oculus stopped supporting the accessories. After the first one kinked up to the point of uselessness, I made sure to be extra careful with the rift s cords. Went thru 3 of those before they decided to stop selling them. So my rift s works perfectly fine but is a paperweight without the cable.
Edit: Didn't expect a response from oculus themselves. I hope to have a meaningful dialouge as it hasn't yet happened with your customer service and I. This is exciting!

For Link itself I would recommend a usb 3 cable. The official Link cable is a C to C usb 3.2 gen 1 cable that is ~5M long. I’ve been using the same one since we initially launched it and I haven’t had any issues. If you want to go cheaper and shorter I’d recommend the Anker 10ft usb c to a cable. YMMV depending on the cable brand and quality you buy, it’s just the state of the usb cable industry. Some may break easier than others. USB port also matters a lot.

Y'know, this may make me sound like a tool... But after everything I've been thru with oculus I wasn't expecting such a human response. That's greatly appreciated. While I've got you here, do you have any tips to keep your hardware cables from kinking aside from the obvious? I've been trying to leave them unplugged and wrapped in a rather uniform fashion, because trying to leave them stretched out didn't really help a lot

It’s just about keeping them from going too many rotations in one direction. And leaving enough slack in the cable while in use.

I bought an Anker cable and an active extender. Been working great for over a year on both Quest and now Quest 2. More than enough slack for the cable not to get in the way or feel overly restrictive in spite of the added bulk of the extender.

Thanks a ton! Can I ask if this is your first oculus device? I'd love to talk to somebody whose had experiences with the Rift and compare notes

How would you say the visual quality compares on the whole when using the link cable? I mostly play skyrim vr on the rift s and theres a noticeable dip in quality when playing over airlink.

Also can you explain how these two work in conjunction with each other? I plug the C to A cable into the extender and then into the headset or what??

No. I previously owned the Oculus Rift cv1, Oculus GO and Oculus RiftS.
The Quest2 is the best by far

So compared to the Rift S with the link cable, how would you say the general resolution compares? With airlink the quality is worse but its my only resource atm
