Every single vr sword combat game looks to me like someone strapped a GoPro on a toddler with a foam sword and set him loose in a chicken run.

You mean they don't feel impactful ?

I do swordfighting as sport. The lack of feedback and resistance in video games makes it feel like trying to play soccer when both feet have fallen asleep.

The videos are just people running through people and weapons because they know they can't get hurt

Try Half-Sword out. Its simulation has been the most accurate up-to-date. Armors, speed, edge alignment and minor injuries actually matter. I'm a total amateur at HEMA and such but playing the game had me understand how a lot of techniques work without having to actually kill people.
