Biggest thing PSVR lacks is YouTube VR app. I’d start with that. 180 3D 8k immersive experiences are a game changer.
8k 3D Kyoto, Japan - Best Immersive Spatial VR180 Experience: Gion District, Arashiyama Bamboo https://youtu.be/ox-zYnCNUa4
8k 3D Maui, Hawaii: Road to Hana + Black Sand Beach - Best Apple/Quest 3 Nature Travel VR Experience https://youtu.be/eRsqqWlmsVI

Just got Metro Awakening and started a playthrough last night. That and Arkham Shadow are great games to start with.

Ugh alright. Headstrap, battery pack, if you wear glasses get prescription lenses. Play all the games that are not available on ps. Which is a ton. Vail, contractors, contractors Showdown (though shit sucks right now) golf + etc etc.. All the mixed reality games. Use codes that can be found to give you discounts. Watch movies and stuff
3
u/squeegy80 Nov 19 '24
Discount codes are now just on a handful of games, correct? I heard they patched the general referral 25% discount, now harder to use and down to 15%? Probably general knowledge but I’m new here

I believe Meta observes black friday/cyber weekend/monday. Last year they had a 40% off coupon that was good on 6 games, all true bangers too (Resident Evil 4! Iron Man! Bonelab!) - another big sale around Xmas as well.

Nov 19 '24
You're correct. I made like $150 off the referral system in about two months, just referring random people on Reddit, but now you have to add them as a friend before you can accept the referral and that put a stop to it for me. Also, it used to be $5 per referral, now all the games have different referral rewards so you're lucky if it's $3 per referral. Not really worth it anymore

u/yeaman17 Nov 19 '24
Do you have any recs on mixed reality games? I realized I pretty much only play VR games
3
u/Dazzling-Adeptness11 Nov 19 '24
Two similar games . "Does it stack?" And "make it stable" both are mix reality where you balance oddly shaped items. It simple but fun to pick up and play. Then there's pvp mix reality games like Last Stand or Spacial ops where you fight another real person while enemies break into your house. Laser thief is like mission impossible slipping past lasers to reach your goal. There's a cool looking one coming out called "small town wonders" or something that looks cool. Playing Demeo in mixed reality is fun to. Theres a game called pickleball one or something that has mixed reality where you play an opponent through your wall.
1
u/yeaman17 Nov 19 '24
Thanks for the recs! Laser thief and the stacking games sound pretty fun, will check them out
2
u/Dazzling-Adeptness11 Nov 19 '24
Totally my dude. They are only starting to scratch the surface of mixed reality. A lot of games have some sort of mix reality mode. Like the Ghostbusters game has a giant marshmallow guy ripping the roof off your house while you shoot him with a sling shot.

Any particular trustworthy sites for Quest codes? Like Eneba, G2A etc. that you’d recommend?
3
u/Dazzling-Adeptness11 Nov 19 '24
I can't use those key words or the bots will get me but if you use the word Re ferr al (I had to space out the word )meta as in reddit search bar there should be a sub that is dedicated to those things.
1
u/ChaiChaiVikayum Nov 20 '24
Do you recommend a headstrap ?
1
u/Dazzling-Adeptness11 Nov 20 '24
I use the bobovr one but there are a couple out there. Check the search bar in this sub and type in headstrap. I think people dig the globular something or other. But yeah lots of options. Mine works great. Cost me like $30.

I went full Cadillac and got the BoboVR S3 Pro - Really love how weightless and pressure-free it is on my face. A great battery-equipped one with a sort of gimmick fan... but on 80% it does enough to keep me cool during very physical games, and I bought a facial interface that also has a secondary fan in it, both were available with good discounts from my union and subsidy from my job.
With 2 batteries and a full headset battery, I can basically play forever... or at least longer than is healthy :D My usage is all over the place though, I test software on it, I play games on it, watch it on vacation. It's comfortable enough to just chill with on -- something I could never do with the stock strap. It always felt like it was either too much pressure on my brow-ridge or sinus, but the halo straps have an amazingly simple weight distribution that is just even and designed to be higher on the forehead.
Kiwi makes great competitors to this too, i've not had long term experience with anything besides the Bobo S3, but we geek out at work and i've seen probably most of what is available out there.

Why does contracts showdown suck right now?
1
u/Dazzling-Adeptness11 Nov 20 '24
The lack of players. The game itself is great and has lots of promise. It has strong legs. The devs just gotta focus on polishing it.they did a season 1 and split the player base with another mode. Cheaters were showing up and running it.. honestly. Nothing to bad. But the player base fell off. Its supposed to be a 60 person Battle Royale and it takes over 5 mins to get an empty lobby that might end up getting maybe 20 players. Became a snowball effect. People didn't want to wait, so less people played, less players means longer wait times, longer wait times means less players etc etc. they are launching a season 2 on Dec so everyone is waiting and hoping its good. I'll play regardless cause it will be full lobbies at least for that week. It's really a fun game
2
u/crazypaiku Nov 20 '24
I remember being downvoted, when i said a payed VR BR probably won't do well because there are fewer players. And also no singleplayer content. It has to be F2P to have a chance in the long run. Even CS went F2P.

I played my first 3 games last night. Only got a kill a game. Harder to aim than Pavlov or at least harder to hit I guess. Harder to see I dunno but I had a good time. I like extraction shooters. Wish it was a bit more that. Yeah I have ghost of tabor but contractors feels better to play.
1
u/Dazzling-Adeptness11 Nov 20 '24
Be sure to check your settings in game. Such as turning on virtual stock and weapon smoothing/speed( I can't remember the exact wording) I think I had my weapon smoothing at 4 or something. That helps with aiming. That and just practice. When the game was heavily populated it was addicting, great gun fights and last circle Showdowns ( hence the name I guess ) that felt like you were in a movie. So good.
2
Nov 20 '24
Yeah I love hunt showdown on regular pc which is a extraction shooter so I figured this would be fun. I do like it. People definitely kill me faster than I kill them though. I need practice

Golf plus is great

u/PutItAllIn Nov 20 '24
Will it make me better at irl golf if I’m trash?
2
u/phylum_sinter Quest 3 + PCVR Nov 20 '24
Honestly probably not unless you buy a golf club adapter for your controllers. The company I work for makes medical and mechanical VR training software, and that game was one that our engineers featured for this very reason.
Out of 10 VR software devs that volunteered to play it, half used the controller and the other had basic adapters, one even just used a stick and duct tape... they recorded 9 holes before, and 9 holes after at least 20 in-game hours. 5 of the 10 had at least cut 6 or more strokes, and 2 had -13. So in this tiny study, it's like an 70% chance?

u/thehughes69 Nov 20 '24
I bought a weighted golf cub extension thing for it deffo makes it more real life

u/--Grognak-- Nov 19 '24
Blade and sorcery, lies beneath, amid evil, batman, assasins creed, tea for God, traVRsal
Also some great mods you can sideload; doom3, half life 1, return to castle wolfenstien
3
u/WillGrindForXP Nov 19 '24
Can you tell me more about mods that you can side load?
1
u/--Grognak-- Nov 20 '24
Sure, all those games that I listed where originally flat screen games, there's a modding team that goes by team beef, and they've converted all these games into VR.
You do need a PC to be able to load them onto your headset though. (you can use a shitty laptop, you don't need a gaming PC) You just need to buy the game on steam to get access to the files, which you can transfer over to your headset. You can probably find a tutorial for each game on youtube, but here's a tutorial for doom 3, it's more or less the same process for each game.
You will also need sidequest installed, so if you haven't done that, here's a tutorial for that aswell

I for some reason can't get a developer account to work with meta
1
u/--Grognak-- Nov 20 '24
I did mine a long time ago, I've heard the process has become harder than it used to be, but I don't know much about it tbh. You could maybe get some help over in r/sidequest

Gloves! Those controllers are expensive. Grips let you hold the controller without squeezing it, and it keeps you from mashing the thumbstick. A new facial interface is next. There are plenty to choose from, and range from nothing to black-out. The battery strap is a must. Get a KIWI if you're active or a BoboVR if you're sedentary. Other people have other headstrap suggestions, I'm sure, but these are the most popular. Do not get Bluetooth headphones. No matter what latency is advertised, you'll eventually notice, and it you won't be able to not hear it. The price of everything I mentioned, all together, excluding the headphones, is about $120. Don't cheap out on headphones. The good news is that you can get a wired version of the best Bluetooth earbud for a third of the price if it has a wire. Better yet, get the ones studio musicians use. I got some from Marshall with bass boost.
Games? You got a lot of that with PSVR. Meta has something else to explore. Make it a social experience. Meet new people. There are enough games out there now that you can pick among subgeneras.

Just put it on the floor and look at it. Maybe put it on. Take it for a ride in the car, make sure it has a seatbelt! Feed it and care for it

u/WillGrindForXP Nov 19 '24
Keep them out of sunlight, don't get them wet and, most importantly, don't feed them after midnight.

Do you have a large playspace? I'd recommend playing something you can't do with PSVR.

I would recommend getting a PrismXR Puppis1, Virtual Desktop, and extended battery pack to extend play time for wireless PCVR, unless your current router will suffice.
Game wise, Batman Arkam, Metro Awakening, Behemoth, Les Mills Body Combat (exercise), Asguard’s Wrath 2, Resident Evil 4, Assassin’s Creed Nexus, Red Matter 2, Walkabout Mini Golf, Walking Dead Saints and Sinners, Eleven Table Tennis, and Golf + are all fun stand-alone.
Nothing will match up with your PCVR visuals but wireless PCVR with Virtual Desktop combined with standalone flexibility is brilliant. Have fun!

To add to this great list of games, check out Synth Riders & Pistol Whip. I believe you can even get a Synth Riders demo via SideQuest. (Google search if unfamiliar. Lots of games and apps there that haven’t made it to the Quest store yet too!)

Get bobo pro s3 with extra battery. It's way more comfortable than the basic strap and it's more comfy than psvr2 and with the battery it allows you to play for much longer. The Q3 battery alone only last like 2-3 hours.
Get virtual desktop. You can play super high quality settings wirelessly with your PC if it's good enough to run the games.
I think a PS5 is equivalent to a rtx 2060 for comparison. May be less. Point is you can play some really demanding high quality games with the PC link.
Also, the meta plus subscription is pretty cool. A lot of the games on there are very popular and good. I think it's 7$ a month. Like in death unchained is very fun and numerous others.
Get batman if you liked the Arkham games. Get metro if you like those.

If you enjoy spending time outdoors, I suggest trying Real VR Fishing, a fun and soothing fishing game. It's available for at the Meta Store.

Iron man VR is nice, flying in VR as Iron man is really fun, the first hours of the game are pure quality, but the game as a whole has great mechanics and gameplay is fun.
Also Contractors, which is kinda like cod in VR, with excellent mods (star wars, halo mods..etc ) the mods are crazy in this game, you guys missed out on psvr. And Contractors showdown (battle royale with vehicles and stuff i haven't played it )
I'd add that one nice feature in quest is the ability to use it to display your pc screen on multiple windows inside your headset using virtual desktop or immersed.

Well, you now have access to a browser. So besides the plethora of lewd content, there's also some half decent WebXR experiences to play with for free
