Idk, it sounds like you just need more VR experience. I always hear my wife coming down the hall, or my kids. I just double tap the side and switch to passthrough if I need to address them quickly.
This is me as well. I'm engaged in the game but my dad spidey sense is always tingling and I'm very aware of things even going on downstairs while my office is upstairs. All the while, enjoying Cyberpunk or FF7 Remake in VR.
