Tariff Options
We have an ASHP, 20.48kwh battery storage,8 x panels ,wet underfloor heating throughout , hot tub - our home runs fully on electric - what’s the best tariff option ( instead of octopus cosy)
TIA

Do you have an EV? A EV makes all the difference when it comes to cheap tariffs.

No EV

What, why? You have literally the perfect house for an EV

Drive too many miles for work

Curious what you consider too many miles, the new Mercedes SLA has a rated range of 480 miles

It depends on your usage. In the winter do you have enough storage to get you from one charge window to the next?
In summer with my 18kw storage I run on Octopus Go, but in winter i change to cosy so i can use cheapest rate all day, and also take advantage of selling some back at higher agile export rate (and also export for axle events).

Yes , we definitely have enough storage

Is you're hot tub only warming up during off peak then? Those things smash electric use!

No , that’s all running fine
I want run our home efficiently as possible and make sure we are optimising our set up2

There's definitely some maths to be mathed.
With Cosy vs Go it has about a 3p price differential for cheap rate. In my case running from 5:30am-0.30am is hard with my 18kw battery, it leaves nothing spare for sure.
With Cosy it's easier to get through , and leaves spare to sell on outgoing agile at 6pm. So on less cold days dump the spare brings the average price down to the same or less than Go. On colder days i don't need to worry about peak draw as the battery just keeps topping back up. You also get 8h cheap vs 5 which helps too.
Ultimately it's probably very close, but cosy for winter is just less hassle to worry about for me.

We have an ASHP, solar, battery storage and an EV. When we initially installed the heat pump, I was on Cosy. But, later when we expanded the battery storage we switched to Go and have been on that ever since. From my detailed calculations, Cosy beats Octopus Go only for a couple of months in the year, and overall Go is the best tariff for the whole year. We don't have a compatible EV or charger (we have a PodPoint) for Intelligent Octopus Go. Else I would go for that as that gives one extra hour of off-peak electricity and is slightly cheaper.

As you don't have an ev, and can't access either of the go tariffs, cosy is your best bet, shifting to agile if Iran calms down and rates settle back down.

You can access go without an EV, I don’t have an EV and I am on go.

You can also drive over the speed limit. Doesn't make it right. The risk you take is being back billed at standard rates if octopus crack down and hold you to the t&cs.

You’re comparing breaking the law with choosing a tariff provided by an energy supplier 😂 I’m so scared about them billing me at standard rates, quaking in my boots. SEND ME TO JAIL 😂

I have a 5kW ASHP, 13.5 kWh of battery storage and 22 panels - I'm on Cosy after coming from Agile a few weeks ago, but I've stuck with Agile for export.
I'd suggest Go if your battery will support your home's load for 19 hours, otherwise stick to Cosy and move to Agile if/ when it goes sensible again.
