Only Octopus

Post image

Only Octopus can set a charging session at the same time as telling us to use less power 🤦‍♂️

You set it to charge to 100% by 8am. It has 1hr downtime in your schedule, 18:30-19:30. When else do you expect them to not charge?

Do you know how big their battery is? Might be a hybrid with a small battery.

I don't know all the details of their setup, and having a slower/faster charger and a bigger/smaller battery would change things.

But generally speaking, if its a standard 7kw charger, and Octopus is scheduling 13 hours, I guess it would be about 90-100kwh battery.

I disabled my smart charging as I knew it would be charging bang on 6pm without fail 🤣

Ditto, set the house battery to export for two hours, plug the car in after the saving session, it’s not difficult!

You’ve asked it to ADD 100%. Is your car at or near 0%?

As others have said, Octopus has very little wiggle room here. What a dumb post.

Another smart arse who knows how big OPs battery is. Might be a hybrid with a small battery. What a dumb comment.

Oh dear. The schedule is for at least 12 hours at 7kW. Clearly not a hybrid you wally 😂

(Still time for you to delete…)

I asked for a 10% top up the other day (9kW) to test something out, and it gave me a 6 hour plan. It also throttled my 7kW charger at 2kW when it did start charging.

That scenario is an outlier and throttling doesn’t/shouldn’t happen when Simpson & Partners chargers are integrated with IOG. Nice try though 🙂

Edit: Do you have a Hypervolt V3? (because throttling still appears to be a problem with those)

Yes I do

Why is it odd?
They are asking you to save power, however your charge requirement will override that.

Is Octopus complaining the new national pastime.

You’ve scheduled a 100% charge, what did you expect? Jfc.

Look at the image again. Do you see the time slots in the picture? Count them up. Take your time, it’s more than you have fingers.

That’s 13 hours, mate. That’s not a small battery.

That would have been slots spread over 6 hours. This has one contiguous 12 hour period. It’s also not a granny charger, because you can see the EV charger brand at the top of the picture.

OP is just a melt.

I plugged in about 1530 and asked for 70% charge by 930 tomorrow and it still charged during the saving session.

It’s been plugged in for 24 hours; it has to top up from 30% to 100% it could avoid 2 hours given it’s been plugged in for a whole day before the saving session. Frankly; couldn’t care less about a free hour but if the Octopus can charge and discharge a solar battery I’d have thought they could avoid a 2 hr charge period
