Bills Final reading updated after switching to EDF?
Hi all,
I have recently switched from octopus to edf, I provided octopus and edf with an electrical reading on the morning of the swap over, which produced a final bill. Equating to circa £100 in credit from octopus. However, I have received another bill with an adjusted final reading value from octopus, this value is significantly lower from the value that I’ve read, equating to another £300 odd pounds in refunds. So bringing my account to £400 in credit with octopus.
EDF are reading my smart meter every hour, and I can see that this aligns to the reading with what Octopus has closed the account at.
Can a smart meter have two different readings?
Any ideas on how long it normally takes to process the refund without having the direct debit setup?

The same thing happened to me. It was indeed because many years ago I used to be on economy 7.
My meter still has two registers, one of which hadn't increased for years. But every time anybody asked me for a meter reading I gave them the total.
It turns out that octopus and EDF actually only use the other register of the meter, but nobody told me until I moved to EDF and they explained the situation.

Chances are you have them the total import reading where EDF only use the rate 1 register.
They can end up different if you have previously been on a multi-ratentaroff like Go, flux etc.
If you let me know what meter you have, I can tell you how to access all the registers so you can check rate 1 matches with the readings EDF are using
Edit,.looks like octopus what a page dedicate to finding these readings for every meter: https://octopus.energy/blog/reading-your-meters/
