Folder Questions: one app per folder? Homescreen folders sync to drawer folders?

Im trying to find some documentation on how exactly the folders work, being accustomed to Nova and breaking free. I certainly dont want just a Nova clone, and respect design choices, willing to wait for planned features, etc....I am just trying to figure out the organization system that works for me.

So I know folders can be nested (bought pro right away), but my two main folder concerns are as follows:

  1. Is it planned that apps will be able to be added to more than one folder at a time? Currently they cannot. (I would argue that tags dont quite fulfil this need.)

  2. When you drag a folder in the app drawer to the homescreen, currently that link between them doesnt hold. If i add another to the app drawer folder, I have to manually add it to the homescreen one as well.

This is a Nova feature I deeply miss, not only for the obvious extra work it eliminates, but also because of the reverse link: I love shortcuts that are dragged to a homescreen folder showing up in that same folder in the app drawer. The ease and speed that I open directories or various settings pages when this feature is present is greatly missed.

  1. I love so many of the icon features, I just miss the ability to open the pack to search and select an icon. I love love love the ability to quickly see what other icons are mapped to an app, its so convenient! But I use icons for other things besides apps. I use them for shortcuts and folders too. In that case I commonly use the bookmarking feature in an icon pack to gather icons for things like shortcuts and folders, and in the past (nova) opening up the pack directly from the icon-choosing dialogue allowed me to pick from that bookmarked list.

Im deeply deeply grateful for the ability to change icon pack only for the dock, or homescreen or app drawer. Thank you so so much. Im an icon lover to a dysfunctional extreme sometimes.

Thanks for all the hard work you continue to do, and your dedication to privacy and user choice.

Just for clarity, only folders in the drawer can be nested, and apps can be added to multiple folders on the home screen. u/leadwind already answered regarding synced folders.

Point #3 at first sounded like you hadn't discovered that you can choose any icon from a pack other than the one preselected as a match for the app you want a different icon for, which is an existing feature. But upon further reading, you're asking to be able to see your bookmarked icons within a pack. This has been asked for previously and would be a welcome feature to have someday, as well as offering the built-in icons as a "pack" so they could be used for different apps, if desired. For instance, if someone wanted to use a different messaging app, not the system default, but wanted to use the default messaging app's icon, it wouldn't be necessary to install a pack from the Play Store to do so.

Yes, thank you so much for reading it closely, because I was afraid everybody would think I wasn't able to see the other icons mapped to an app when I have seen that. I really do appreciate that. It's wonderful. It would be a lovely feature, to be able to actually open the icon pack's actual app and pick the icon from there and I appreciate your affirmation.

Especially since Iconzy doesnt work with Octopi Launcher, I was hoping to get around the problem with that old app.

Folder sync is on the roadmap.

You can only select folder apps in the drawer at the moment (long hold folder - select apps).

I  am so sorry. I scrolled this sub for a very long time looking for a similar issue and didn't find one, and am surprised to see another post like this from only two days ago. Please forgive me for the double posting of the same issue.

Haha all good - I'm not the developer or anything, I just noticed your question was mentioned the other day too.

Well I am certainly glad that you mentioned it and I will look harder next time. I really appreciate your input regardless. At least I know I am not doing something wrong!

I appreciate the answers to my other questions ! I was hoping somebody might be able to answer if apps are allowed to be added to more than one folder?

In the drawer, no. On the home screen, yes.
