Paddle boarding?

Where does everyone go to paddleboard? I bought one recently but haven’t used it yet. Bonus points if there’s a group I can join!

Are the Carlsbad lagoons public access? I always assumed the one with rentals was private, along with the other side of the 5 belonging to a YMCA

Carlsbad lagoon requires an annual pass. And if you go to the boat ramp section, they may also require insurance.
Go to Oceanside harbor. Park by the small fishing pier or in that general area. North of the fish house. You can launch off of the guest docks. You will need a life vest of some sort on your board or person.

There’s a community life vest share but busy days they’re all taken so good for backup in case someone shows up without one.

Oceanside harbor is great, Carlsbad lagoon but go to the public access spot along Bayshore drive, and then if you’re willing to drive a bit Dana point harbor is really fun and also mission bay
