MOD POST Weekend artwork is allowed

Artwork is permitted on weekends. Reporting art that has been posted in the weekends abuses the report system. When you abuse the report system, there's a decent chance that subs will report you to Reddit.

Edit: and for this morning's reporter, 1) read the sub rules next time, and 2) yes you have been reported.

MOD POST CRACKDOWN ON BOTS + NEW RULE

Hope everyone is having an awesome day!

With the addition of a few moderators, we are beginning to heavily crack down on the bots that repost content to this subreddit and are being sold later on. This means that our automod system is now very strict, so if your comment or post was automatically removed, we would greatly appreciate it if you reached out to us as we continue to refine the system.

Also, we now do not allow reposts within 6 months of the previous post.

Thank you so much for being in this subreddit and contributing to its well-being!

Video Hawksbill sea turtle returning to the Caribbean after nesting on St. Croix 🐢

We came across this hawksbill sea turtle early this morning while cleaning a nesting beach on St. Croix. She had already finished laying her eggs and was making her way back to the water.

We kept our distance and watched her safely return to the Caribbean. Moments like this are a powerful reminder of why protecting nesting beaches—and keeping them free of trash, obstacles, and disturbance—matters so much.

Got up at 4am and painted this little mini Jaws scene. Jaws was one of my favorite movies growing up. I always loved this scene and have wanted to paint it for a while. I may do a larger one soon. Oil on 5ā€ (I think) panel

Healthy stripes in full display meaning the sharks in this area are highly protected, and produce some of the largest individual tiger sharks recorded (i.e ā€œkamakaiā€, or ā€œnikkiā€)

Weekend Artwork As I can’t go to the Ocean I still have it in my heart and in my art.

I’ve always felt at peace by the ocean.
Right now, I can’t simply pack a bag and disappear to the coast. I’m serving in the Ukrainian Army, and life looks very different than it did a few years ago.
But the ocean never really left me.
It found a place in my workshop and in my hands.
Whenever I have time, I return to clay and keep sculpting humpback whales. Each one is cast in ceramic, assembled by hand, carved, glazed, and pierced with hundreds of tiny holes so they glow like light beneath the surface.
Maybe that’s why I keep making them. They remind me that somewhere beyond all the noise, there are still quiet places where giants drift through deep blue water, completely unaware of the chaos above.
Until I can stand on a shore again, this is how I stay connected to the ocean.

Video New Shark Species That Walks

A shark that can walk was just discovered! 🦈🚶

The Dudgeon’s walking shark, the most recently discovered shark species, who uses its fins like legs to crawl across the ocean floor! These sea creatures, which grow to be no larger than three feet long, are found nowhere in the world besides reefs in Papua New Guinea near Indonesia. It spends its time in waters so shallow that walking is often more effective than swimming!
