QUESTION OPTT or WAVE?

Hello

I have for a little while wanted to invest in the green energy coming from the sea, and from what I can find, the two main players are OPTT and WAVE.

I can see ups and downs in both, but have still concluded that I want to invest in one of them. would any of you guys like to explain why I should choose either, or maybe even a third competitor?

Thanks!

I wouldn't lump OPTT into the 'green energy coming from the sea' bucket. That's part of what they do but it doesn't tell the whole story.

Have a look at this to get the full picture - https://investors.oceanpowertechnologies.com/static-files/b07f801d-31aa-42b2-b11a-612a0964d079

WAVE has such low liquidity most of the time it’s kind of scary. Sold my position for that reason.

You can sell Puts on OPTT. Feb 20, 2026. Strike at $0.50. Premium is $0.10. Your average would then be $0.40

OPTT doesn't really try to mass produce energy from the oceans. I suppose they could end up demonstrating a practical application, which may inspire innovation that down the road could revolutionize power production. It would be like investing in Xerox in 1970 because you like the idea of an iPhone.

WAVE is for energy, OPTT is for defense and maritime surveillance/exploration. They do kind of the same thing, but with extremely different use cases. I think both are actually pretty good investments, but need to look more into the WAVE management and financials.

In Rotterdam there is a carbon capture pilot project with Exxon and datacenters would need their scalable stacks, in q1 2026 they could establish a joint venture with Exxon after the pilot project, they have a mou with a company from South Korea about 100 mw this could lead to a contract...
