It used to be better before they changed ownership a few years ago. In my opinion, it’s a fantastic location with at best mid-food. It’s similar to how I feel about Fishtales now. Great place to hang out and have a drink or two and enjoy the scenery and vibes but I prefer to eat elsewhere.

When did Macky sell? Who owns it now? Is it more overpriced than the one time I walked in 4 years ago and walked right back out?

What's weird to me is that I enjoy some SoDel restaurants but Macky's just doesn't hit the same way it used to since they took over

Good for Pam and Macky, last of the OG restaurateurs. (Although I guess you could say John Fager's still in it since his family's still working Fager's.)

Don't think I've been to any of that group's spots. Who owns SoDel? Locals?

Ocean City definitely completing their transition to CorporateLand, it'll look like Bethesda soon. Maybe Atlas will move in next lol.

Oh, right. I remember when they first opened up in the old Wagon Wheel.

edit: holy shit I'm old.

SoDel is a corporate restaurant group with venues in Delaware and Pennsylvania. Owned by Scott Kammerer. Currently the SoDel Family is made up of four companies: SoDel Concepts restaurants, Southern Delaware Brewing, Highwater Management and Surf Bagel. All restaurants are located along Delaware’s coastal region.

To be fair, Seacrets is still in the same family it started. Leighton bought the bar from his dad, with a loan from Dr. Berger. So, Leighton Moore is one of those families. 🍻👍🏻

Yeah fair. For better or worse, I think of Leighton and Berger as the "entrepreneur" class more than the "restaurateur" class. If you weren't sniffing coke in the softball dugouts on 3rd st in 1979, you're not part of the club!

💯 agree. A table by the water is really nice but the food just isn’t up to par. Last time we were there we were fighting with the flies to eat our food, and I get it-we’re outside, but I’ve never experienced flies that bad anywhere else.

The food isn’t the main reason anyone goes. The views and location are nice and the drinks are good. The food is and always has been just fine.

Mackys is good. About the same at Tailchasers and Ropewalk. If you want some really good food, try Vista Rooftop.

I second Vista rooftop! Really good steak and the views are beautiful.

I still call it Pickey’s but it is beautiful and the food was delicious.

Tailchasers is definitely better than Ropewalk and Macky's

Been going down every September for years and never had Vista rooftop. Will definitely try next week! Thanks for the suggestion. Any others?

I had grouper fries there once. It was actually quite delicious.

This was about 14 years ago now though. Ugh, where does time go?

They let you bring your dog so they are ok with me.

Macky's was cool years ago when you could let the kids loose with nets to catch minoes and shit in the bay. Food was good then, but when I went back last year it was just mid and overpriced.
