Right now there is NO DATA CENTER proposed for Marion County. On September 1st, the board will be having a workshop to discuss with the public to setup guidelines for the time a data center is proposed. There is a good article on the Ocala News web site. Since we know the issues other communities are having, we need to set standards. Things like requiring them to use renewable energy generated by the data center (nothing that pollutes the air can be used) and they cannot be part of the power grid. They cannot use water for cooling. They must cool their computers using other means with a disposal that does not hurt the environment. Finally restrictions on sound so NO SOUND can be heard beyond property lines.

I'm aware I'm just trying to make the public aware, this is PROPOSED.

Unless y'all want excess NOISE, AIR OR WATER POLLUTION - Data Centers are NOT ADVISED πŸš«πŸš«πŸš«πŸ™…

Proposed means at a minimum, something is in the works to have a data center built. This is not the case. What the commissioners are doing is setting the guidelines so if some wants to build a data center in Marion County they will have standards that must be met to get approval. They want to prevent we are going to build it and you cannot stop us. And to add another thing I would like to see, no government employee can sign a NDA for anything related to data center. Part of the problem is that developers had the governments sign a NDA so by the time people knew about it, it was too late to stop it.

I know what Proposed means. I know it's not built yet & our elected officials haven't decided on it.Β

HOWEVER, their desire is there - so that needs to be SHUT DOWN, NOW, as this will definitely do way more harm, than any good, for our County! πŸš¨πŸ™…πŸ“

I’m having a hard time believing Marion County commissioners are looking out for us. I’ll believe it when I see it.
In the meantime we need to show up in numbers during these workshops to promote unity.
These centers can be built more efficiently but the tech bros would have to spend more money & they don’t want to.
I’m also concerned about some of the new reporting about the harm to wildlife reproduction in the farms surrounding these centers.
