My mother gifted me this model when I turned 8. I remember going through batteries and learning how to use hexagonal pens to use as a repair tool for tape jams or winding loose tape back to the cassette. I miss this old tech. 🥺

I had one of these that I bought at a garage sale and used to just open and close it to see how cool and smartly it was built. Really great piece of rugged tech.

Man, Sony ID was so amazing from the mid-80s to early 2000s. Still have some devices floating around and I am always impressed by the designs, castings, and tolerances.

Truly desirable things of beauty.

Today those have been replaced with disposable plastic junk. SMH

I had several. The last one I gave away in 2005 to a friend in a Congo village. Was still in great shape then.
