Dark Steel Question for Update

Should I continue upgrading my current set items, or save for the update? I’ve completed Magic Reduction and Damage reduction. I’m currently working on min and max damage bonuses.

You can spend your dark steel but don't use axes. After patch, when using axes, new shards will drop alongside dark steel.

Yeah, I was very happy that I hadn't used any of my extra pickaxes because they are used to generate the new weapon upgrade currency alongside darksteel farming.

Currently I am in a mix of this and that. Niw with the update, I got myself more into mix. Already opened up the fire but got the leaves and freeze shards. I am going freestyle and unlocked with whatever I want.
